View Full Version : CSV File Import Issues

Tried to import a csv file to my WAM yesterday and again this morning, but having problems with it.

Although the column headers should be there, and yes--sometimes I still have to match some to the WAM, now I'm having to match ALL of them from the file to the WAM. Odd...

The auction_currency column is in my file and shows USD, but the WAM must not be reading it, because it stops me and has me select currency for quite a few (but not all) of the listings.

Once I've done all that, I get an error message "Index was outside the bounds of the array." That can't be a file size problem, can it? There's only 134 listings in it, so it's a teensy file. LOL

Thank you mj-trading. I'll just come back around and list later. Have new items to put in my main store anyways.

I did notice the other posts where ya'll are having problems with a newer version than mine? Mine is 2.3.6.58. I think that's an earlier version than what ya'll have (I read those posts earlier this morning). I created some new listings - just 5 though - from scratch and everything uploaded properly and shows up correctly on the site.

Its just that my csv file import won't work now and I depend on that. And I never have been able to send invoices no matter what I try. :(

I'll check back in a day or two. Thanks for your response

Thats the new version were having trouble with! We had the one right before it and we did the updates for the new one and thats when problems begun! I have started from scratch 4 or 5 times the last 4 days now and still can't get my pic's to go to the site and with 5900 items it very hard to do one at a time

Oh I see...I must have updated somewhere along the road. Well, isn't that weird?

My auctions, at least those 5 I did, uploaded fine with the pictures and everything. Now, I think what I do that's different than some folks is that I host my own images on my site - I don't upload them to WeBidz.

Could that make a difference?

Doesn't solve my csv file problem, but maybe help your image problem?

Sylvia,

Can you forward your import file to admin@webidz.com

The error you are receiving is not a file size problem. It appears to be a problem on our end, but will need to duplicate the issue to figure out and resolve.

mj,

When you are uploading your auctions, is the path to the images on your local pc correct?

Sylvia,

I have found your issue. Your csv file is comma delimited, and you have commas in your description... which throws delimiters where they should not be.

You would want to use tab delimited or a custom delimiter that would not be found in your description section... or my personal preference of an .xls file, which I feel is easiest to modify and work with, and usually presents less issues.

I am not sure why we even have comma delimited as an option, as most descriptions will contain commas.

BINGO! That's right! Thanks so much! Just imported the file as an .xls file. :D

WOO HOO!!!

By the way, might the csv option work if the delimiter field was not grayed out? I was not able to choose a delimiter. But anyway, tab or xls makes no never mind to me....it worked! YIPEEEEEE!

THANK YOU
THANK YOU
THANK YOU

GO NAVY! ;)

ps...and oh yes, I let it "use default settings" for auction_currency too.

If you want to use a custom delimiter you would need to choose "custom delimited" from the drop down menu, then type in your custom delimiter. Otherwise it would be comma or tab delimited, depending on the format you choose.

Yes Admin i took a pic from my other store and saved it to mj pic's then i took it out of there and put it in wam!
I have always did this for years and on here until 5 days ago! I can take that same pic and trans it to any other stores and in the webidz auction site manual and no problem! Just Wam! Does it have something to do with that mt link says new user in it? I gave you a link earlier to show you what they look like coming from my pic folder

gahhhh....have my terminology and carts mixed up.

Delimiter is comma, yeppers; I was thinking of a field enclosure character like my virtuemart cart allows and got it mixed up.

Where did you give me the link? I think I must have missed that one.
