I was wondering if there were enough interested parties on here, how do we go about starting a book club group? Something for us to talk about the books we're reading, recommendations or maybe even a group of us reading the same book and then having a discussion about it.
Would anyone be interested in something like that?

Great Idea! I love to read! Will read anything and everything but my fav's are sci-fi & fantasy. Zane just ordered 9-10 Jack M Chalker books from a WeBidz seller so I can't wait til he gets them and I get MY turn to read them!!!
BTW, I'm looking for Owl Knight by Mercedes Lackey

I just had a brain storm..LOL, what (IF) we could start a book 'SWAP' on here, JUST among active boardies, and the (owner) trade a book with another (owner) and BOTH pay JUST actual shipping ..Just a idea? We would need to work up a group of at least 20 people..I have many MANY brand new best seller authors in mystery/thrillers..Like I said, prolly not doable, but a idea?? :)
(BTW, my NEW books not so new anymore, as that was about a year ago)..:(
Wish I could help you Bam on the SF..I never really got in to reading them.
I could send a list of my BIG authors I have in stock if anyone wants. I USED to sell a LOT (through JB's ID) on Half.com, but they are connected with ebay.. yuck!

Actually a book swap would be cool. I do something like that on a site called bookmooch.com. They have a point system; earn points by listing your books, then when you request a book it goes to the person you request from, etc. The sender pays for shipping; you do the same if one of your books is "mooched". Good way to get rid of books that you don't want anymore.
I read a wide variety of books. I'm currently reading Karen Monin...a mix of time travel, romance, scottish lore. Pretty good. I also LOVE the Diana Gabaldon "Outlander" series...they are basically the same premis as the Karen Monin stories but even better.

BnB I LOVE the idea, but we will need to get more than Bama, you & I interested.:D
I think it would work, but we need a larger group. OK, a what if? How does it
work if say book owner (A) has a book and (B) wants it....OK does book owner (A)
ever get credit or something so she/he is not out her/his book AND shipping? :D

I was thinking about how to work this over the weekend. I don't know if this would be permitted by webidz but what about using our webex points? For example, if I wanted a book from Lana, I would give her xxxx webex points (whatever we determine as the number of webex points to be given) and vice versa when someone wants a book from me. We would have to post a list of our books maybe in a blog or email an excel file or something. No money changes hands; the person that is sending the book out pays for the shipping. The biggest pain in the butt would be the initial posting of our book lists. I could probably just post a link to my Bookmooch listing; I think it can be viewed if you're not a member.
What does everyone think?

Bath,
Members are able to exchange WeBex points however they wish, so something like this could be handled through the group, or by listing as a WeBex auction. You would get more feedback by using the WeBex auction format, but this would be the members choice.
We actually now have functionality for groups, and have been testing over the last couple weeks. We will be starting a thread on this sometime this week, which will further detail how everything will work.

I'm willing to list my books as webex point listings for whatever we decide is a fair point amount. I will still be apart of my bookmooch site but will just have to keep close watch and remember to remove from each site as they are requested. Not too difficult though!

I'm still trying to learn how to read. I just got hooked on phonics, so maybe in the next month or so.
Actually my wife loves to read. We only buy hardbacks, and I place in my library afterward (trying to build collection)... so would not be able to sell any, but maybe buy some.

Just like a regular auction, sellers could designate any start, reserve or buy out price. Keep in mind that WeBex point auctions cannot have shipping charges, and are absorbed by the seller. So depending on the sellers situation, they may want to list as a regular auction where they can charge shipping.
Once a group can be set up, you guys can create your own little rulebook.

Cool Chief..I need to move some..BTW..mine are hardbacks..
I bought and paid for last year as best -sellers and since I no
longer sell at Half.(except most for them.com) :D I need to move
many of my wonderful books before my 'best sellers' become
'old books' !! I think this is a PLAN..How do I make sure does NOT
sell out of US, Boss? (WeBex points)
Thanks,
Lan

I'm gonna get a bit off topic here but can you charge real $$$ ($300.00 to be exact) for insurance on a WeBez point auction? If that translates into 30,000 WeBex points, I'll just have to let the current bidder have that goodie:)
