Latest Version of WAM? ADMIN i need you

Does anyone know if the New WAM is out yet?
I Got a Mssg from ADMIN saying it was supposed to be released yesterday.
Has anyone tried it? Is it Bug free?
My WAM has not worked since 7/15 and i need to get listing, as i keeps storing items in Turbo Lister untill i get a good WAM. Too bad WAM is not like Turbo, i have had it for Years with NO problems....
Once i get a good WAM i guess i wont update as that's how my WAM got messed up. It wiped out all my data and now reads error Root Element is missing when i open the software, and basically only the title is still there, all the description is missing.
Anyway i dont know how to fully wipe out the old wam and reinstall the new one. i have vista prem home edtn. and i keep waiting for Admin to give me a call to help me thru it...

Hey there Clifford, I run vista,
Go into your control panel, select programs, scroll down to webidz auction manager and double click. That will remove it from your programs, which you will have to do before you can download the new one anyway.

Then when boss posts the new one, you can just download the new version just like you did in the beginning.

Clifford, I don't know if the new version is released yet, I have not seen anything on it.
And I guess I'm signed in as the admin on vista, Ron would know better than me on that, all I know is that when I open WAM or anything else, or go to remove any programs on my laptop, my screen fades out for a minute and a box comes up asking me if I initated the action. Mine is windows vista home basic. We don't have different user accounts set up on this one.
What I'm wondering is, if we have backups, will the new version accept those current backups with no problems. I'm sure it will, but that's a question for boss.

Deleting the Wam is not going to hurt or loose ant other programs on your pc!

Data backups from previous version should work most of the time. Sometimes updates will have structural changes, which would have the potential for issues when backing up from these files. I would not recommend having a bunch of work that has not been uploaded before updating. It would be best to upload so they are live first. That way after update, if there is issues with your backup file, you could always update inventory from the site.

We are trying to get a version that installs independent of previous versions, so members can install the new without getting rid of the old. There has been some small issues on this though, which we are currently working through.

Please use caution when saying delete, as some may take you literally and just hit the delete key. I know you know what you are saying, but some may not understand and just delete the shorcut or wam folder. So to make this clear to everyone else, you always want to go to add/remove programs and uninstall anything you want removed.

The latest version is now completed and can be downloaded from the auction manager (http://www.webidz.com/auctionmanager.php) page. This version is not a standalone version as we had hoped, so previous versions would need to be uninstalled before installing this new version. Previous versions will also not auto update, as their are some config changes that will not work with auto update routine. If you are successfully running an older version, you can continue to do so... but we always recommend newer versions, as they usually run better and/or have more options.

I have tested fairly extensive, and have not found any issues on two different pc's. I really like the automatic image resizer, and I am sure many of our members will love as well. We need to get this implemented on te site as well, but that will not be for quite some time.

Is your backup a copy of the database file? If so, I do not recommend doing this. If it is a backup you created in the last version of wam, it should work no problem.

It sounds like their may be an issue with an incomplete uninstall of a previous version, which may result in your setting or sqlscript being goofy. I have attached a zip file. Try downloading to your desktop, then extract these two files. Then place these in your auction manager install directory.

Could you provide your error_log in the webidz auction manager folder? If you uninstalled, I think it may have been removed though.

I already uninstalled boss, no biggie, I done a couple edits on the site so that they wouldn't go into closed before you got the new one ready. So I will just do a new import from site into wam, do my edits, and reupload to site. Then back up a complete set.
If I have any issues with the new one like that though, I sure will send you the data. I don't have many issues with Wam, not like the others have, so I consider myself lucky.

When you say a disc clean, are you referring to deleting temporary internet files? If not, I would recommend trying that, as the program seems to be getting old info from sowhere.

It sounds like you have the default program to open as something different than a zip program. You should not have to download again, just right click the file and choose extract or unzip from the drop down menu. You will most likely be in the same boat or worse with a previous version, as your data files are reflecting old data for some reason. Let me try something first before giving you a previous version... I am going to create and upload an update for this version, then have you try auto update. I will post back in about 10 minutes, after I get this set up.

Ok! But i know all my old data was out of the pc as i did disk clean up, clean all temp files beyound disk clean up! I defrag, i checked c program nothing there i more in less did a complete pc clean!

Update for boss, that's what I was doing, but somehow it wasn't registering in my brain that my winzip was gone somehow, don't know where it went or when it went. Ron found a winzip program and downloaded it, I got everything going now. Installed WAM and the box for the update that you provided for John popped up, but did not choose to do that, and everything looks fine. I'll let you know if anything is missing when I get into it more.

I use CCleaner to remove programs from my computer, clean my computer and do general maintenance stuff, since I use traffic exchanges. I pick up loads of ad cookies and junk. CCleaner cleans everything up pretty sweet. (I also use AdAware & SpyBot Search & Destroy for that though).

That CCleaner does a better job of removing programs from the computer than your Add/Remove Programs in Windows. There's another program called Revo UnInstaller that I use too. They both do a more thorough job of cleaning off leftover files from uninstalled programs.

Ok. Install went fine. Downloaded Master Data and all my listings fresh and clean from the site rather than from previous files. The listings all look fine. *whew*

Exported my listings to a csv file (tab-delimited) to make a fresh import template, but got a Microsoft .NET error. It went through the whole thing, saw the progress bar zooming along, then it stopped and the error window came up. I had to click Quit or Continue. Here's what that said in the Details:

This version has an update to export/import new ms office spreadsheets, so it sounds like there was some debugging code left out... we will get it fixed shortly.

Seems to be working great Boss, I'm uploading my changes now, there seems to be no rhyme or reason in the upload order and I lost connection during item # 443 out of 815......So when done I will simply scroll through and make sure all my pics show in the selling pages. I would have no other way of knowing what item #443 was.
