Links in Auctions
WeBidz allows sellers to place only certain types of links within an auction. A link is any mechanism used to take a member off of the WeBidz site, whether static or clickable. This applies to any format used for a link that includes but is not limited to, text, images, logos or icons.
Permitted links include:
One link to a page that further describes the item being sold in that listing
One link to your email address that opens an email client for potential buyers to ask questions about the item in that listing
Links to photos of the item for sale
Links to your WeBidz store* (stores can contain up to three external links)
Links to your about me page* (about me page can contain up to three external links)
Non-permitted links include, but are not limited to:
Links to websites or pages that offer to trade, sell or purchase goods or services outside of WeBidz. This applies whether it is a static URL or an active link.
Links that encourage buyers to place their WeBidz bids through a site other than WeBidz
Links or other connections to live chat or other messaging systems
Links to subscribe to newsletters or mailing lists
Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
Listing cancellation
Limits on account privilege
Account suspension
Forfeit of fees on cancelled listings
Links in Community Signature
Signatures should comply with the below guidelines:
-Maximum of three units allowed in signatures. A unit is defined as a graphic, external link (graphic or text), or text entry not exceeding 50 characters.
-Graphics should not exceed 468x100 pixels.
-Graphics should not exceed 100kb in size.
-Text entries should have a font size of 2 or less.
-No more than one external link in signature. If Repatoo banner is used, this does not count as an external link.
-Linking to external sites is not permitted for sites that contain pop-ups, adult material, racist or hate oriented material, or sites that condone or promote illegal activity.
Violations will result in infractions given, which may include loss of WeBex Points. Failure to resolve after infractions are given, could result in suspension from the community.
Links in Stores and About Me Pages*
External links can be placed on your about me and store pages, and are limited by the below rules:
Maximum of three external links
Linking to external sites is not permitted for sites that contain pop-ups, adult material, racist or hate oriented material, or sites that condone or promote illegal activity.
Admin,
I sent you a PM asking a question about WeBidz links policy before I did a search. Please forgive me.

Thanks for posting and bumping this back up WRH! I read the policy again and must have not read it thoroughly the first time because I am in violation on my welcomes! I added a RevolutionMoney banner last week - bringing my external links total to 2. So I'm changing my siggie in the welcomes text file I use right now.
You should add your WeBidz store url into your Answers banner so folks can see your duckies! They are adorable!

Bam,
Are you aware that Repatoo does not count as an external link? I have just looked at your siggy, and it is in compliance with policy... Possibly it was not in compliance and you already changed?

I only changed the text file I use for greets. I had been alternating my Squidoo link and my Bama Hat website link so when I added the RevolutionMoney banner, it was too many links. I haven't removed any other links or posts. I was only in violation on my greets links and I've been a member here long enough now that I should be in compliance :)
Although I still make enough boo-boo's to be considered a newbie. :o

Now I am a bit more confused. I had a bar that I cut and pasted from my ESBQ Gallery which I do not sell anything at~ but it shows a lot of my artwork and I pasted it into my auctions. It has an email button, a portfolio and about me button as well as my Etsy which is not an auction site but I hardly sell there anyway[member for 1/ 2 yrs and only about 40 sales total on dollar items.Should I delete this bar??
I dont have all of the same pictures on all of the sites, but am trying to get them all to display but since I have frequent computer crashes I lose my lists, so I have opened an msn live account and have a free website that hasnt any shopping cart, so you cant actually buy anything there but they allowed me to put a 'footer bar' that links back to here and some other sites for reference, which makes it easier for me to find the sites I have joined since I lose my favorites frequently when my comp breaks[about once a month]
NowI did find on that bar that I can cover and delete buttons as I deleted the ebay button that was on it.It didnt occur to me that it was a problem since the top of this page has ebay banner ads on it anyway.
So was it okay to just remove the ebay button or should I remove the others as well? I think they only allow people to compare that I am giving them a good deal here. Now after reading the post above I am going back to edit out Etsy, since someone 'could' possibly buy there [ although like I said it only has had 44 sales in 18-19 months and most were only a dollar or two.
I will leave the email and the portfolio and about me buttons. { I dont know how to make buttons so I cut and pasted them from websites I joined that made them for me. that is why I dont have a banner here that works either, Lana sent me an email back in May about making one and I have the emails but never was able to get the banner to work so I just had the store url there on my sig bar but my store doesnt work either anyway.

Ave..as you & I have already discussed..Yes, please remove that bar
and outside links in auctions.. and YES..Etsy IS a auction site.
Also want to make sure that NO ONE is charging shipping on WEBEX
auctions. That is the rule until or (if) the chief changes it).
Many Thanks for compliance.
Lana
Hi Lana~ I have been doing alot of editing and seems like the more I edit the more I miss and so go back and edit some more. At one point I think it may have actually been easier to delete everything and start from scratch.
I think I got all the outside auctions links gone now and store links,On some I have only my profile and portfolio links to ESBQ which is only gallery view of the pictures I am selling here and my profile.
I got all my WEBEX's sttraightened out.
I''ll never click WEBEX along with the other options again...Instead I tried to duplicate each auction to separate them and make one a Webex and the other a paid one. The only ones I thought would be okay either was were the screensavers since they are digitally delivered.
I think instead of editing for the most part I am going to make new listings and be sure not to add anything.Since I am not really that good with a computer, alot of what I do is 'cut & paste' but t hat is also where I goof up when I end up pasting more than I should. The little tool paste I got from ESBQ I had liked and had used because it had little icon buttons that went to several of my sites and made it easier to check and compare items, but I deleted all the buttons except the profile and portfolio.
Hey I got a question? Do Webex points expire? I lost a bunch of them over the last couple of weeks and dont see them in the spot I have others saved. I had made a deposit of 100 into the checking acct option a while back and left 75 or more active but they are gone. I have some new ones from a WEBEX point sale, but just wondered where the others went and if they should get spent as soon as we get them or if we can save them. Also if maybe they were a fine or something for when my auctions were botched? and if so is t here a way to keep record. This wasnt the only auction site I botched my listings. I tried the turbo lister on ebay and had a one line referral to my personal website where I listed more pictures for viewing and they deleted all 70 auctions, I had to edit and relist. That took all night too , to do..
Thanks ~

I am referring your other questions to Admin..as to WeBEX points, no
they should NOT ever expire. I have had a few growing since the first
DAY we started WeBEX points auctions. I think you need to check and
recheck. (PLEASE). I will refer to Admin to advise you at this point.
Thanks,
Lan

WeBex points do not ever expire. The only way a person would loose WeBex points is if they receive an infraction, and they would loose 10 points for each. If you recently moved points to savings, it can take up to 24 hours for it to show in your savings.

Good Morning
I have read the rules about links and I am not sure weather I can add a link to a classified site I go to once in awhile (kijiji montreal) my plan was to add an item without the price and add the webidz link for more info on my item .

Mornin Dee, Hope I am understanding this right as I am still waking up. Boss you can shoot me if I'm wrong.
You would have to look at that other site and see if they have a policy on outside links. I would think it is a classified site, so there shouldn't be a problem with sending a buyer here. We would much rather have your transaction take place here after a buyer is sent here though LOL.
The rules here are no outside links placed here that would take a buyer to make a transaction outside of WeBidz.

LOL well I had just woke up when I asked the question, lol
Yes I know it would be ok for the other site people add there banners for there buisnesses all the time. Maybe that is what I could do , if I can figure out how , But I think adding a picture of whatever would give them a better idea of what I am selling to get them interessted in coming here (Oh I am Babbleing again (SORRY) Yes of course I would sell through here though

As long as you are not spamming people, or conducting in any other illegal activity, we would have no problem with you promoting your items or store. As kat said, please be sure you are familiar with their policies, and not getting yourself in trouble with them.

Ok Thanks for your response, I am sure it will be ok . I have seen many others do it there. It may even be good for us to have new people taking a look at webidz!

Could I have some specific answers to the links on my About Me Page please.
Are links to personal websites allowed?
Links to a Newsletter Sign Up?
Links to external photo slideshow of products via photobucket?
If you go over 3 links on the about me page... does it die?
What else could keep an about me page from loading with all its
formatting.. the word FEEbay is in the text .. would that do it?
Does Repatoo logo count as a link on the about me page?

If you read the first post in this thread at the link below, you will get most of your questions answered. In post #5, Admin states that the link to Repatoo does not count as an external link, so it would be a freebie.
As far as your page not loading, I am not sure about that, sorry. Maybe someone else with more experience can answer that one.
Hope this aswers your question,
Roz

I have read all the stuff on links here and in the site FAQ
they are both aimed at links in Auctions..
Though the very last line in the Forum info suggests that
there is a different standard for links in About Me pages
it says little or nothing about what links are allowed on
the About Me page... it says 3 links.. but what kind????
Website links?
Newsletter Links??
Links to a slideshow showing a bunch of your items
for sale?
or what?

Links on the about me page are pretty much open to whatever you want to place, except for what we listed on that policy page. Please see quoted excerpt below...

I had a question from a new member recently about what is allowed in our signature box, and our about me page. So I went to the post that Admin had put up about links. After reading it, I discovered that I am in violation of the policies.
So now I have corrected my signature, and suggest that we all do the same. Afterall, some of us, have been here for quite some time. We are the examples that others follow.
I have taken out my quote and reduced my font size to 2. Remember that your Repatoo is not considered an external link.
Thanks for your cooperation,
Roz
