Well guys, school has started back again, and I am a big supporter with our High school team. My son was in the band and I went to every home game and most of the away games for the last 4 years.

Well tonight is the first game of the season and I still intend on being at all the home games, hopefully we will have a better year this year.

Thanks for the support Rozzie and BnB, we are not a big school, and our team isn't that good. We just don't have enough players that wanna stay in it. But dead gummit they try hard.
And even though Michael has graduated and I don't have any kids in the band right now, I'm still V.P. of the Band Boosters, and my kids are gonna look and sound good while they are out there.

Sounds like you have a busy busy schedule Kat! We've just got Mighty Mites football so far this year and their season is shorter than school seasons. This is my son's first year. First game is next Thursday...I think I'm more excited than he is! lol

Not too busy BnB LOL Just doing the band booster stuff, trying to get more stuff listed here, 2 kids still living at home and a hubby. Nope not too busy.
We are sponsoring the burger cookout at the game tomorrow night so today I had to go get the donated buns, tomorrow I have to make a 3 hour drive to pick up my oldest son and stop back by wal mart and pick up 50 bags of ice for the sodas.

Thanks! My son is a good athlete but he has no confidence in himself. I don't know why that is as we've always encouraged him and what-not. If he could get rid of that and stick with any of the sports he's tried, he could become a great player. Football is going good so far. I think he's finally getting the fact that he's doing good.

He started playing the Viola last year and has continued with it this year so I'm glad he didnt drop it for this school year. The school orchestra has a lot of performances planned and I can't wait to go to those too!

Well another friday night is come and gone. Another loss for the Demons (thinkin it may have to do with the mascot name LOL)

But once again, the band looked good and sounded great.

The band boosters had the famous fried onion burgers for sale, $5.00 a plate for a burger made your way, chips, soda and a big saucer size homemade cookie.
We done pretty good on that even with the small crowd.

One of our guys is out of football for good, tore his knee out AGAIN, so he is pretty much done with football. He has already had surgery on it once.

Anyhow, another home game next week, and the school has raised the passing level to be a "C". I think that's a good thing (sports and clubs are fun, but education is the most important), guess we will see how it affects the eligability to participate for the whole student body, everyone from players to spirit club to band to cheerleaders.

Rozzie and BnB, thanks for the cheering section, cross your fingers for next week. If I remember right, Stratford is a better team than Meeker. So we may be sunk commin out of the locker rooms.

Well we held our own the first half, with some sub players even. Lost any chance of catchin them after the half time.

The highlight of the night though was when some little kid thought that someone had climbed some sort of tower, the kind that the windmill/weathervane things used to set on top of. I think 90% of the crowd was over there lookin up to the top of that tower.

There is some doohickey at the top that still turns around with the wind, and I guess it does look like someone sitting up there with their feet hangin.

Had the police department over there shinnin the spotlight up and down that darn tower.

They liked to have never convinced that kid that there was no one up there.

Friday nights for highschool. Jr. High is on thursday or tuesday nights I believe.

We are on the road friday to Wewoka, bout an hour and a half from us. So will be a late late night this time.

Not sure if I'm going or not, depends on what my own kids have going this weekend and where they need to be.

Have the band away shirts("uniform") here, have to get the letters sewn on them. Since the kids don't have school friday, I have to take the shirts to the school around 4ish to pass them out.

We decided to put them in 2button Polos with the Old English D on the chest for an "away" uniform. Less wear and tear on the actual uniforms on bus rides, dirt and all. Cleaning on them things is not cheap. So the polos still give them the uniform look, but much much easier on the cleaning bill.

Reminds me of Jonathans first year in little league baseball. You are supposed to provide a copy of each kids birth certificate to proove age. There was a kid on one of the opposing teams that looked like he should have been in the next age bracket. We could have contested his birth certificate, but it would have cost our team $100 to do it. Jonathan was 7 or 8 and one of the biggest kids on his own team. That other kid looked like he was about 12-14, he was that much taller than everyone. We lost the game, and just chocked it up as a loss and didn't contest it.

Yep you guessed it.....another one. Ohhh well, I'm sure they are trying, although I wasn't there so I couldn't say for sure.
You know usually you have a bad year, then you have a couple years of good. Mainly because it's kids who are in their first year of playing. Then they stay in it and learn to work as a team. So they kick butt the next year. I don't know how many of our players are freshman. Think we lost about 5 that were seniors last year, so let's hope this year is a learning year, and next year they will kick butt.

Sorry Rozzie for not updating. We have been so busy around the house. The game this last week was on Thursday. Many were talking why we were even playing against Dewar. They are a bigger school, and one of their guys was already signed on to go to OU upon graduation. Their defense played great also, it was a quick game though as the defense kept us from scoring, and that one kid was makin touchdowns every 10 minutes it seemed. So they creamed us pretty bad.

Next year's games should really be better, as the current team will grow and learn from mistakes this year.

Well guys, another home game tomorrow night. It's Sr. Night and Halloween. I have no clue who won the game last week but I will find out tomorrow night and post both scores at the same time.

On Sr. Night around here, we take all our seniors for the year, and their parents, line them up, and then walk them out on the field while our announcer talks about what each and every student has done in their years of school, and what they plan to do in the future. I had to do it last year with Michael, now I get to sit back and watch my friends walk out there in front of everyone. Then each senior goes and gets an x number(turned in by the seniors) of roses, and gives them to the parents/grandparents, girlfriends/boyfriends. They then get to toss some kind of widget(like nurf footballs, with the Dibble logo of course) up into the stands for the crowd, Kinda like they do with their graduation caps at graduation.

So the season is almost over, and the band boosters will be doing the onion burger cookout again. We get to do it every year on this game, and we make quite a bit of money to do things for the band.

Not sure what the total score is for the last two weeks, just know that we didn't score. I was busy tonight with the hamburger stand and the T-Shirt stand so wasn't able to actually watch the game.

Yep, it is definately a learning year. No problem though, gotta take the bad with the good.

The onion burgers were $5.00 a plate so that would = out to 500 points LOL. Comes with a burger and all the fixins(includin fried onions if you want em), chips, drink, and a homemade cookie as big as a saucer.

I will get a pic of the band in their uniforms for you guys soon. The ones from last night, they got to dress up for halloween if they wanted to. The drum line dressed up as the "Blue Man Group". They had those bald caps on their heads and painted them blue, along with their faces, necks, arms, and hands.

Yep it's high school Butch. We have such a small town, it's hard to get the kids into playing football anyway. We have very few that stand on the sidelines, most of the players are pulling double duty on the field. But that's okay, we generally have a really bad year about every 2-3 years, depending on how many seniors we loose in any given year.
