Hello All

I am just about ready to set up my store and would like your input. I am very new here and soon I should have my Repatoo (SP?) icon setup. I sell physical products and informational products on eBay (also have the user name freetowin there). What gets me excited in life is when I can solve a problem I have or to help someone solve their problem. How that has happened with me (in recent years) is I need information I do not have, but once I have it then my problem is either solved or well on its way to being solved. This started out short and becoming long now, here is my question. If my store contained informational products what delivery method(s) is allowed or preferred here (i.e. digitally downloaded automatically after the purchase or a CD ROM with the Informational product received via the postman).

Hi freetowin,
I'm not bossman, but in my thinking, what would be wrong with giving the buyer a choice?

In the description, you would be able to place something to the effect of.....
available for digital download, or on CD(to be mailed to buyer).

There are quite a few sellers here who do digital downloads, don't know how you would do a delivery confirm on that other than it being in your sent folder of your mail provider.

Thoughts from the other sellers?????

HI ..and a warm welcome!! What I do with my digital
items.. I 'store' my ebooks at a source and when one sells
I send the link to my customer after they have paid. I do
not have as many on as I once did, and yes they do sell.

Thank you for your quick replies,

Hey Katandron that is an excellent idea, I've never seen anyone offer both a download or a CD before.

Hey LanasCountry I have not actually done digit downloads before, but I am glad you have had experience with that. Your suggestion was the direction I was heading.

Thanks again

Doug

If you do disks and send them out of this country even Canada Make sure you put in Big Letters DO NOT SCAN! I had a guy that had to send us a cd over and over again until the 4th one he wrote tjat on it! The scanners that the Customs use melts them so there no good! I got the first 3 that looked like someone left them in the sun at a 120 degrees! I fianally called customens and told them that! They said it is there scanner most likely and to put DO NOT SCAN ON IT! So i told the seller that and he marked it and it was fine when it got here!

Hi Doug,
The other thing I would see is in the description you would have to put something to the effect of shipping price on the mailed CD, that would/would not apply to the digital download. If I'm thinking right, and Lana knows better than me, I don't remember seeing a shipping charge on a download.

You would have to word it like you would do for international shipping charges......to contact you before bidding/buying/paying for the shipping quote.

Lana is great at digital downloads. She can walk you through that stuff.

Doug..Hi again..If you need any help with the digital part..
PM me and I will try to help get you started.. I stayed with
the digital transmission as it is so much cheaper for the customer
(and for you) and you can send all over the world. Anyway

WOW thanks for all the help,

Mr J That is great info, I hope I can remember that at the appropriate time. Mr J can you tell me how I might install more memory for my mind?

katandron - I was wondering if I should do a listing for digital (like you mention with free shipping) & another one with the CD?

Lana - Thanks for the offer. I will keep that in mind and I might wear out your PM button.

LOL when Mr J finds out how to do that for himself, I'm sure he will let the rest of us know.

In reguards to digital, it would probly be best to do seperate ones, that way there is no confusion at the end. Some don't read the entire listing and may miss the part about contacting for shipping charges.

Let's say I'm one of those people, I want the cd, but fail to read the contact for shipping quote....I hit the buy button, confirm the buy, and get sent to pay pal to pay, If you do not have the shipping price set in the shipping area, then it is going to tell me to pay whatever the price is for the listing. So that's what I pay. Then your gonna email me wanting more money, and even though I didn't read the listing I'm gonna say your crazy and you can't ask for more money at the end of sale.

Your then gonna come back and tell me to read the TOS where it says "contact for shipping charges". And pay the shipping or your not gonna send my widget. And you would have every right to do that cause as a buyer, I should have read the listing TOS.

So ya, it may be best if you have alot of these listed in quantity, then just do 2 seperate listings. However in the title, because it would be a duplicate listing, I would put digital or CD.

Note: To do a multiple item listing (having more than 1 for sale, but 1 listing)....make sure to have it as a dutch auction. That way say I purchase 1 of 50, the listing continues with me listed as a winner of 1/50. 49 still available.
