It would be very handy if a shipping calculator could be added into the Auction Manager. Any chance of this happening?
Thanks...

This is a very good suggestion. We could definitely look into this further.

A shipping calculator is a must for me. As of right now I dont know what to charge for shipping and must tell folks to email me with their ZIP. I sell plants adn it goes by weight and zip. I 've been burned several times charging like $6.00 for S&H only to get to the PO and find out the shipping alone was $9.00. Ever since I use the calculator - its much more accurate. The calculator should allow for handling fees as well and give the total to the bidder. PLEASE PLEASE get this feature

What we do when there is no calculator is charge a flat rate! We take a zip code that is far from us and then put that rate down! That way at least you won't get burn for not charging enough and might be a dollar or two left to pay for your time on packing it!

I actually prfer flat rate shipping, it is easier for the customer. For any item under 1lb I know the USPS Priority mail rate is $4.60, so I can base my charge on that. For heavier items I choose a zip code that is somewhere in the middle of the country (I am East Coast). By doing this my average shipping works out nicely. I do lose a couple bucks on shipping to the west coast, but make up for it by making a couple bucks on shipping to the east coast.

Although this is something we are looking into, it is not something that will be available real soon. There has been very little done on the auction site lately, as the majority of our programmers time has been involved with the auction manager.

Admin, thats fine I was just checking. I will just use the USPS one after I get the customers zip code. I have found that the flat rate method does not work for me. My packages start at 2 pound minumim. Sure I could charge more to the east to make up for the west, but is that really fair to the east coasters? I think not

Perhaps enter the dimentions of each item posted with its weight, then calculate shipping by dimention and weight of all items purchased ? Then get information from the carrier chosen.. that would knock ebay on its ass but slightly more work for us but we all have to do it for shipping anyway.

HI Ezpc and welcome!! Many of my items are small, and I always try to give shipping cost upfront.
When I have a customer order 2 or more items, I charge far less for the extra items. But if I have
a large item with a HUGE difference in shipping price (according to zip code), I just use the USPS
calculator and it only takes a few minutes., I really prefer to list that (ship) price in my listing as often
as I am able to.

Flat rate shipping is fine for the customer that buys one of an item..... a shipping calculator would help sell multiple items from one seller. I sell an item with refills and it would be handy for the customer to purchase the refills with the base item to save money on shipping.
Other than the shipping issue, I have to give you credit, this is a great alternative to ebay. Keep up the good work! :)

Hi pawspetcenter,
Maybe you could just mention in your item description that a shipping discount is available for multiple purchases shipped together. If someone is interested in making multiple purchases, they could PM you with their zip code and you could reply to them with the shipping cost.

Hi Paws and a warm welcome to you...so happy you are here, and hope you
will spend some time in our little community. Great folks, lots of learning, games,
contest and more~!
In regard to the shipping calculator, Our Boss (the Admin) is working on many
upgrades and changes for the site. I am unsure when they will occur. Anyway...
I (think) a on-site shipping calculator is part of the changes.
Many MANY pet lovers here and you should do well~! :)

I, too, would like to see a shipping calculator. It would be helpful to buyers as they'd know what they'd be paying and not be suspicious that they might be paying too much. Hopefully it can happen.

Yes, I think a shipping calculator would also be great because shipping prices over 15 oz vary from zip code to zip code and international prices vary more. It only makes sense that a customer is going to want to know EXACTLY and FOR SURE how much they will be charged.
LOVE your little quote about cats! lol You're right! They haven't forgotten at all! I'm a cat fan and have 2 of them that "rule" our home (however cutely). Their "tudes" can be so funny, though! :D

foreign shipping and us shipping are two different things so it would be great to have one spot to type in what it cost to ship us and one to type in what its costs for foreign shipping it may cost 5.45 us and up to 20 for overseas

Hi Rascal,
Thank you for your post.
Right now, my suggestion would be to ask any international buyers to contact you with their location prior to purchasing. You can then quote them your shipping cost to that country. That would be more accurate than listing a general international shipping charge which might vary greatly depending on location.
Hope this answer has been helpful to you.

There are significant changes to the shipping section with the new platform, but a calculator will not be released initially.
The current architecture for the new platform will have various entries... Domestic, Domestic (shipped as additional), International, and International (shipped as additional).
The purpose for the "shipped as additional" is to automatically combine and discount flat rate shipping. So if a seller has a bunch of items of various weight and size, they can enter "shipping" as if it was shipped by itself, and enter "shipped as additional" if it is to be included with other items. Then our system will look at all items purchased and charge the "shipping" price of the item with the highest value, then add the "shipped as additional" for all other items.
Our system will also have an auto-invoice option. So buyers can receive invoices almost immediately, with combined shipping included (if enabled by seller).
We will then be looking into some sort of shipping calculator. We have some algo's that we are thinking of, but nothing set in stone as of yet.
