I got this recipe in an 'urban myth' email. However, Nieman Marcus has a different recipe posted online. Both sound good.

NEIMAN-MARCUS COOKIES (Recipe may be halved)
2 cups butter
24 oz. Chocolate chips
4 cups flour
2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp. Soda (baking)
1 tsp. Salt
2 cups sugar
1 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated)
5 cups blended oatmeal
4 eggs
2 tsp. Baking powder
2 tsp. Vanilla
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)

Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder. Cream the
butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, mix together with flour,
oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda . Add chocolate chips, hershey
bar, and nuts. Roll into balls, and place two inches apart on a cookie
Sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
Makes 112 cookies.

From Nieman Marcus:

An urban myth is a modern folk tale, its origins unknown, its believability enhanced
simply by the frequency with which it is repeated. Our signature chocolate chip cookie
is the subject of one such myth. If you haven't heard the story, we won't perpetuate it
here. If you have, the recipe below should serve to refute it
Copy it, print it out, pass it along to friends and family. It's a terrific recipe.
And it's absolutely free.

Ingredients

# 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
# 1 cup light brown sugar
# 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
# 1 large egg
# 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
# 1-3/4 cups all purpose flour
# 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
# 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
# 1/2 teaspoon salt
# 1-1/2 teaspoons instant espresso coffee powder
# 1-1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Cream the butter with the sugars using an electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy (approximately 30 seconds)

2. Beat in the egg and the vanilla extract for another 30 seconds.

3. In a mixing bowl, sift together the dry ingredients and beat into the butter mixture at low speed for about 15 seconds. Stir in the espresso coffee powder and chocolate chips.

4. Using a 1 ounce scoop or a 2 tablespoon measure, drop cookie dough onto a greased cookie sheet about 3 inches apart. Gently press down on the dough with the back of a spoon to spread out into a 2 inch circle. Bake for about 20 minutes or until nicely browned around the edges. Bake a little longer for a crispier cookie.

Yield: 2 dozen cookies

HEY Sandra~! :)

Which recipe do you like best?

I often wondered what NM would charge for a couple of those cookies? Maybe $5.00-$6.00~! (??)

I think I am gonna do the last one for JB. I also will add pecans or walnuts.

Thanks for offering~!

SANDI..Do yah think they know how to make Gourmet Southern Pecan Pie in their NEW YORK CITY  stores?? (I don't)

The real 'thing' made here in Ga. (not grocery store type) is rarely over $15.00 plus shipping. :D

I know my products would sell..but...you have to have all kinds
of license and permits.. I have seen a few food items on line that
I KNOW were not legal..sad..too much red tape. I would LOVE to
cater..maybe next year? :D

LOL Lana,
I tried to cater here but all the crap you have to do because of the
health dept. and not to mention the county and then the state.:p
Takes alot of money just to get started.
Have done a few private weddings, and anniversaries, small dinner parties,
but to turn it into a biz .....
well more money than I have just hanging around.;)
And good luck trying to get a SBA loan. They're a joke anymore.:(

THIS is easy and YUMMO.. I did not have almonds and used lightly toasted
chopped pecans..REAL good~! :)

Neiman Marcus Dip

2 oz. cheddar cheese (fine shredded)
5 green onions, chopped
1 c. Hellman’s mayonnaise
1/2 c. blanched almonds, chopped (I used toasted chopped pecans).
5 bacon slices, cooked crisp and crumbled

Mix all ingredients together.
Chill for at least 1 hour (The longer it chills, the better it tastes).
Serve with Ritz crackers.

Note: Add more Mayo if mix seems dry.
Will moisten as it chills.

Makes 40 appetizers

** may add crumbled bacon also. approx 3 slices ~ adjust season salt to taste.
1. Combine first 5 ingredients; stir in 1 cup pecans. Cover and chill until firm.
