I ran a search on "wedgwood bank" and got items like this 1442430 which has nothing to do with what I was looking for. What am I doing wrong w/the search feature? how can I run a search on both title and description, is there a way to see what is selling? I used to assume all the items on the front page were selling but that's not true.

Our current search function uses "boolean" search, which searches for all terms entered. So if you do a basic search (from the toolbar) for "wedgwood bank", it will search and return results for any auctions that have "wedgwood" or "bank" in the title.
If you do an advanced search (by clicking the advanced search link), you would get results from any auction with "wedgwood" or "bank" in the description. So if the seller had "piggy bank", or "ernie banks" in the description, these would show as results.
So it would actually return better results by only entering a single descriptive term from the toolbar.
We are currently looking into new search technology, but will not be able to have an immediate resolution for this issue.

Thanks... I checked the FAQ, prior to asking and couldn't find anything. Perhaps this subject, since it is so popular, be on there?

I can look into getting something added in the FAQ section, regarding searches.

What am I doing wrong...I type in Pokemon Book bag which I feel is very specific....I am getting pages and pages of results. Unfortunately I am in tears long before I find my first book bag....if I wanted cookbooks, etc. I would not have typed in Pokemon book bag.

Unfortunatly, this answer still applies. Very sorry that you were in tears. Sometimes it is easier to go to the specific category and search for something.

For now it probably is best to just browse categories, or use a single descriptive term in searches. This is currently being worked on, but is still a ways away from release.

Please forgive me if I'm asking this in the wrong place, but...
Is there a way to search completed listings? I'm looking to post some things, but wanted to get an idea of what similar are selling for here - or if they're selling at all. I assume it would be possible somehow, but I'm definitely not seeing it if there is. Thanks so much!

Hello Eye,
Yes there is a way to search closed listings.
Go to home page and click advanced search(upper right)....and when the page refreshes you get options to look for.....simply imput your information, choose to look in "both"(dropdown menu)...and then choose "closed"(dropdown menu).
This will bring up auctions that have closed on the site regardless if they sold or not.
