We have tried for 2 days to get this to work! We download it like the instructions said and it poped up that there is new updates so we clicked to update the loading bar comes up moves all the way to the right and stops and nothing happens after that! We tried to reload WAM, we also figured it might take some time to download the updates so we left it downloading for 3 hours and still nothing! One time we tried not to download the updates and go from there, but then it says our log in name is not right! Let me know sellers if you got it going!

It works for me. I had the first version and then updated and it did that fine.

do you have any firewalls or such on your computer it might be stopping it from working right.

We have provided a couple updates since the release earlier this week, which automatic updates works fine, and users should have no issues.

We have had a problem with users that installed versions from 2-3 months ago though. They try to update automatically, but due to the significant structure and database changes, it does not always work properly. Which would lead to connection errors.

What we recommend for users that installed previously(2-3 months ago) is to uninstall the program. Then navigate to the install folder, which is usually C:/program files/webidz auction manager, and delete the "webidz auction manager" folder. Then do a fresh install and all should work.

NOTE: Do not delete the folder unless you have uninstalled the webidz auction manager program first.

We have tried everything that all of you said to do and it still locks up under the Updates! Maybey this doesn't work on a Win 98!! We have spent so much time on this now and getting behind our other duties that we'll just have to forget about WAM

Thanks

I had the same issue on my home computer when I first installed WAM. I ran the installer again to uninstall the program, and then reinstalled it without re-downloading the installer. Things worked fine after the re-install.

Good luck!

I had a small amount of trouble the first time, as I had some old files from
the older version of WAM on my pc. I removed EVERYTHING and did a fresh
install. It is working fantastic. I have Windows XP. I love the program!

mj,

We are sorry this is causing you so much time loss. As far as I am aware, this should work fine with windows 98. Do you know if you have .net framework installed on your pc? I have updated the auction manager software download to include .net files and updates. Possibly downloading the new download package and re-installing will work for you.

Did you have a previous version of the auction manager from a couple months ago? I know you said you tried everything that was suggested... I just wanted to ensure that you did delete the original files after uninstall, if this is the case.

Another reason for such issues would be failing to extract the files from the zip before installing. If you just view the files with a zip program, then execute the install program, all files will not be installed.

We recommend unzipping to your desktop, then installing from there. After install you would delete the files you unzipped to your desktop, as these would not be needed any more.

We done that only unzipping them from the pc

We downloaded again, extract the files to the pc and installed from there! Everything went good! We double click on set and it installed then we clicked on the icon and we got a message (could not find file 'C:\PROGRAM FILES\WEBIDZ AUCTION MANAGER\datacolums_mapping_data.xml') We clicked OK and it took us to fill in pref which only had listed name and password on it! We clicked to see if there are updates and it said none! We clicked the update inventory and it said (server cound not logged you in,please check user name and password)
We have the new framework installed!

If install completed properly, this file should be there. Not really sure what is going on with this? Would you have any programs running that would block such installs?

I have attached the datamapping file. If you want, you can download and unzip the contents. Then place that xml file in the Webidz Auction Manager folder.

Actually, now that admin mentions it, I had to do both those things.... I needed to download the .net framework from microsoft, and I was trying to do it from within the zip. Once I did things I was supposed to, it installed fine. LOL...operator error!

Eric..I had to download the .net framework as well..:) (I loaded it for the last WAM
install and had to download the updates this time). folks..don't forget to remove ALL of the old
program, if you had it..make SURE to remove the old program BEFORE removing the
old folders.

With this Win 98 all i have is to Extact the files to the folder! Is that the same as unzip? I don't have anyplace right clicking ect that says unzip like my XP use to show!

Thanks

admin
12-06-2007, 04:47 PM
Yes, you just have to extract to that folder. I am not sure about right clicking, or exactly how 98 works in this regards though. There is only one file in this zip, the one you reported as missing. I am not totally sure this will work though, as it seems that it did not install properly, and there may be other files missing also.

But you can at least try this, then we can go from there.

I think it might be Win 98 as we have tried everything! When we download the file you gave us and then when they wanted us to do the preferance area, that file gave us more on that part than just to write our name and password the whole left side of that colum was there this time but only the top 1/4 of the right side was there missing were we put our auction terms and payments ect! We tried to update inventory again and it gives the same message as before (wrong username)! We have never had WAM on this PC before but we did on our XP but the motherboard burnt out on that one! If you can see if anyone else has this loaded on their Win 98

Thanks

If your password was saved on the site over six months ago, it used our old encryption method to store in the database, which the auction manager does not recognize. If you change your password on the site, it will save into the sites database with the new encryption method and may resolve the password issue.

I did notice that the preferences page is acting goofy with the latest update. So it may just be a version issue, which we will get resolved shortly.

I will get in touch with our programmers. We do not have any 98 machines to test on, but they said it is compatable with this version.

Hi again, Myra & John!!
As I mentioned in a thread above, Admin is not online at the moment as he is ill.
Please refer to this post he made above:

If you change your password on the site, it will save into the sites database with the new encryption method and may resolve the password issue.

I wish I could give you better answers, but I have a great deal to learn yet with WAM..Many of my
current auctions were loaded and some completed in WAM!! :)

mj,

I am not sure if this was recommended before... Have you reset your password on the WeBidz site? I know sometimes older passwords are not recognized by the auction manager, as they would have been saved with our old encryption method.

I have also submitted a report to our programmers, regarding some members receiving a "could not log you in" error message. Possibly there are settings with different operating systems that are not allowing everything to function as it should.

One of the biggest problems is some of the updates failing to overwrite existing files from previous versions. So with the next update, we are going to provide an alternate software version, with a different name. That way we know it is doing a fresh install, and there are no remnants of older versions.

Paige,

Were you able to install the auction manager? I am going to forward your error code to our programmers, as I am unsure what this error code is. What OS are you running?

mj,

hmmm. You said you are running windows 98, right?

Can you do us a favor? In your auction manager install folder, there is an error log. If you could send that to admin@webidz.com, that would be appreciated. Possibly there will be some clues there to help us get this running for you.

The default path for this file is C:\program files\webidz auction manager\error_log.txt

Our programmers have found an issue that is causing some users PC's to not be able to connect. They are currently working on a resolution, so this should be done shortly.

I believe users will be able to simply use the update feature within the program to resolve. I will find out for sure from our programmers though.

We have released a new version that should resolve many of the connection issues, as well as some other minor bugs. Please see the instruction below, and the download link if needed.

http://www.webidz.com/downloads/auction_manager.zip

STEPS TO COMPLETE UPDATE:

1) Check for updates within your auction manager program. (should work for most)

Depending on how long ago you initially installed the program, you may need to complete one of the below steps if problems persist.

2) Download the newest version, and extract the files to your desktop. Execute the setup.exe program and choose "repair" from the options given. Then complete the install/repair process. When install/repair is completed, you can delete the auction_manager.zip file that you downloaded, and the WeBidz Auction Manager folder that you extracted from the zip file.

If this does not work for you, you can try the below method.

3) Uninstall the auction manager program. Then navigate to and delete the "WeBidz Auction Manager" folder, which should remove the folder and all its contents. The default path to this folder is "C:\Program Files\WeBidz Auction Manager", where "C" is your hard drive. NOTE: Be sure to uninstall from your computers add/remove programs before deleting this folder.

Download the newest version and extract the files to your desktop. Execute the setup.exe program to start the install. When install is completed, you can delete the auction_manager.zip file that you downloaded, and the WeBidz Auction Manager folder that you extracted from the zip file.

After you installed, did you select "download master data" from the file menu? As that is what will populate your local database with all the sites categories, your custom store categories, payment options, currencies, etc.

When you create additional categories for your store on the site, you would want to do this again. As this will populate your local database with the custom categories you added on the site.

You can delete all your inventory you downloaded from the site, then download master data. Now download your auctions again, and all should be filled in correctly. This way you are not having to make a bunch of changes.

No didn't do that as didn't know that! Will do and try! That must have something to do with the auctions i tried to delete on WAM and they didn't on Auction Site

Deleting from the auction manager will not remove from the site. Regarding active auctions... You can edit auctions, then re-upload to apply changes. But you cannot remove them from the site with the auction manager at this time. There will be an update in the near future, which will allow sellers to end auctions from the auction manager though.

You would either need to edit the auctions to not auto-relist, then upload the changes (which the auction would then run to the end date, then not relist). Or you could go to the auction site to end the item directly.

admin
12-22-2007, 08:22 PM
This is actually an excellent program, but evidently there have been some bugs that we did not find previously. Or various environmental variables that we needed real world activity to exploit. We are glad that things are starting to work for people. As more people start using, I am sure there will be more minor issues that are found. We will be here waiting to fix these... as well as listen to suggestions for improvements.

Admin..will there be a button in WAM (or have I already missed it)? :) That would allow us to duplicate a auction on
items we would like to show 3-4 times at different ending times,...as in.. new items that we have duplicates in stock?

admin
12-22-2007, 09:33 PM
There is not a single action to complete this. You could highlight the item, then select copy from the edit menu. Then select paste from the edit menu multiple times, each time creating another duplicate.
