View Full Version : Just Looking....

From reading many of the posts in various threads, I see that a lot of the regulars tell the newbies to get a banner going and we'll come look at your stuff. It is definitely a good sign, giving positive encouragement to those new people like myself, put it does pose one minor drawback. One of the criteria I have always used back on the bay in deciding whether to relist an item or not was by how many hits (views) it got. Admin and I have had previous discussions on how the system here can be fixed so that it recognizes the owner of the auction and does not add 1 to the views counter, and I hope there will be an announcement soon about it. But, when I look at an item of mine today and I see 16 hits for example, in less than a week, and I combine that with the fact that I have had zero sales in the 6 weeks I have been active, I am curious as to how many of those 16 were card collectors and real potential buyers, and how many were you good folk like Lana, Dee etc, just checking out my stuff. Don't misinterpret this, I much prefer WeBidz to the bay, and the help is phenomenal, but if too many of our members who are not collectors look at my stuff, it gives me a false view as to how much activity I am really drawing? It's a real catch - 22 isn't it. I would be very interested in hearing others thoughts on this.

Good Mornin Phil.
When I myself click on a store banner, I am looking through the store pages (not adding a hit)...If I see something that interests me, I will click on the item (adding a hit).
The reason we encourage new members to get a banner is that no one would be able to find the sellers store unless they went in and done a search for that store, just scrolled through the stores link, or (if the item was placed in both) it showed up on the auction home page, or if someone was visiting one of your items and then clicked on store.
I too am anxious for Admin to get the hit counters outside of the actual auction listing. As I'm sure everyone else is.
So maybe the hits (excluding your own) are actual customers looking. Maybe they have added you to watching list..That's another feature I would like to see in addition to the view counters.
Hang in there...Baseball season is just starting.:)

I like the banners. Unfortunately though, my webmail provider does not allow me to add the banner to my signature, so, the banner only shows up on my postings here in the community. I hadn't thought of your angle that people like yourself and Lana for example, are just clicking on my store banner and not actually looking at the actual items, so those hits, excluding my own really may be potential customers. After all, I have been sending out a lot of emails to my customers back from the bay, giving them the new addy. Play Ball

I think Kat is exactly right and the way I am (lazy:)) if there is no banner (IMHO) MOST
folks won't take the time to research and find the sellers' items. Phil, I feel bad for you about
the link in email.. I have had to just put the (inert) picture with my written link above as mine
won't let me post picture/link either.. it is so frustrating!! :( Yep, baseball will be here REAL
soon!!

Phil, Lana gave me an idea on her reply, first click the link above and see if it sends you to your own store (if I did it correctly it should) then......on your personal email...make up some kind of picture or even just a cool written siggy for it....then under it paste the link. Hope it works for ya.
(I clicked on the link and it sent me to your store !!!!!!!!!):)

nope, mine only allows text, but by having www.WeBidz.com in the signature, it acts as a link
