I am having trouble getting my photos uploaded. I keep getting a message that says that there are too many bites and that you can only have so many. How can I rectify this so that I can get some images on my listings?

Images on this site need to be under 200kb. What you need to do is reduce the size of your images and then you should have no problems. There are many freeware packages available to do this. The one I use is called Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com). It can be downloaded for free and is an excellent program. If you need help with the program, just ask, I can post a short tutorial on how to use it.

Hi Joe,
I am new to Webidz and am also having problems uploading photos. I downloaded Auction Manager yesterday, but it will not open. Says the file is contaminated. I am going to delete it from my computer.
So....today I downloaded Irfanview410 and have installed it on my hard drive. Now, I cant' figure out how to use it to make my photos smaller. Computer lingo confuses me  I don't know how many pixels equals 200 kb
Could you please walk me through the steps? I need to know how to open a photo using Irfanview, resize it down to 200 kbs or less, save it, then upload the resized photo to Webidz when I want to list something for auction.
Hope I'm not asking too much. If so, just let me know. Thanks!

Joie,
You said that you downloaded the auction manager, and it would not extract because it was contaminated? I am assuming you are running some sort of virus protection that said this? If so, what program gave you this info? Are you sure the error did not say that the file was corrupted? If so, there may have been an issue with your download, and you may need to download again.
I am not sure how the program you are using works. You may just need to play around with it a little... Resize a picture, then right click the picture and choose "properties" from the drop down menu. This will tell you the size of the picture. This way you know if you need to make it smaller. Once you get it to where it needs to be, it should be fairly easy for future resizes.

Joie,
Here is your quick tutorial on resizing with Irfanview.
1. Open Irfanview
2. Go to File - Batch Conversion/Rename (This opens a new window)
3. On the left side, make sure Batch conversion is selected (or conversion and rename if you wish to rename). Make sure your Output Format is set to JPG.
4. Check on Use advanced options.
5. Click the Advanced button. This opens a new window.
6. Click on RESIZE: button. Use the Set new size as percentage option. Put in the percent you wish to reduce by. (On my 6MP camera 35% in both windows brings pics down to about 120kB). Also check Overwrite existing files in bottom right. (If you are not renaming or moving the files this is necessary.)
7. Click OK to get out of this window.
8. In the upper right browse to the pics you wish to reduce. Select them and click Add. (If you wish to see the current size of the pics click the far right option and choose Details).
9. In the lower right, choose your output directory. (Probably easiest to just click the button that says Use Current "Look In: directory).
10. Click start batch.
That should do it. After this your pics should be nicely reduced in size.
Feel free to ask if you have more questions or if something is not completely clear....
