Wanted to take a moment to congratulate you & your staff on the new AM, James! I finally got around to checking it out last night and this morning.

Outstanding work! Connected right up, updated, imported my one little listing :( and all is well!

I even managed to IMPORT a csv file created with the phpprobid bulklister!!! How cool is that??? It will need editing, naturally--categories, images, seller preferences, etc. But the fact that all 500 items imported, with title, description, price, etc JUST FLOORS ME!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Off to make a couple of suggestions in the Suggestions thread (did you think I'd let you off easy? hahahaha) and to edit the listings so that I can LIST AWAY!

Best of all...I haven't broken it yet! :p

Thanks for your positive comments Sylvia. Our goal with the import function is to have it complete everything, so there is no editing required at all. Unlike our other auction manager program, this accepts custom imports, turbo lister exports, probid exports, etc... But still has has some work to go.

Currently it has a backup option, so you can backup all your user info and/or auctions within the program... but it lacks a proper csv export that would be easily imported into another sites version of the software. That is being worked on on though. Just imagine how quick you could manage auctions from multiple sites that way. click, click, export... click, click, import... hundreds or thousands of auctions in virtually minuits.

Sylvia,

I just responded to a post you made over at PSU. I detailed some of the program functionality, so I though I would copy it here for our users to see also... Since it has some detailed info.

How the category converter works is that it informs you that there is no such category in the database (say yours is 38276), and prompts you to choose a new category for your item (you choose music>cd>jazz). It will remember this preference and change all 38276 categories to music>cd>jazz. Currently it does not give much info when doing this, but we have some changes being worked on that will better guide users.

I have also submitted a proposal to change the column mapping section in the beginning... So users can select certain entries to include pre-defined info from the users preferences page. So if you wanted all your shipping and payment details to be changed to what you have listed in your preferences section... You would just select "use default settings" for that entry. Then every one of your imported auctions would automatically have this data when it imports. When we get this fully completed, there should not be any need to have to edit any of the imported auctions.

In the mapping section, you would be able to import any csv file from anywhere... You would just match up the columns on the mapping page.
The SOURCE COLUMN is a fixed entry column of options on our site, you would then select YOUR CSV COLUMN for each entry, from a drop down list that contains all your column headers from your csv file. It does not matter what the header is on your csv file, just as long as you know what the columns contain, as this is what it will import for the source column associated with it.

For example:

SOURCE COLUMN >>>>>>>> YOUR CSV COLUMN

Item Title >>>>>>>>> >>>> product
Buy Out Price >>>>>>>>>>> product price
Duration >>>>>>>>>>>>>> use default settings
Category >>>>>>>>> >>>> hooba
etc............................

We're glad you approve. I believe you are familiar with our last Auction Manager program that was written in the Delphi, which the csv import hardly ever worked... The wind had to be blowing just right, on a friday, the week after a full moon, between 11:00 and 12:00 at night for it to work correctly. :o At least that is what it seemed like from the emails we received from our members.

We have excellent programmers now, so we can gladly say that is a thing of the past.
