http://community.webidz.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Re: Did the update and can't download it now!
I have done further testing this evening. It seems that if you download version 2.05 from the download link (http://www.webidz.com/auctionmanager.php) and install a fresh copy, then it works fine. If you follow the upgrade link that pops up when you open version 1.49 then you get errors when connecting.

A tutorial follows. If you do not consider yourself computer literate I do not recommend you follow this, but wait for the auto-upgrade to work properly.

The steps I followed to make version 2.05 work are as follows:

1. Open version 1.49. When asked if you wish to upgrade, choose no.
2. Backup your database. Go to File-Backup Auctions. You will be asked for a filename. Click the blue folder, choose where you want to put your backup and give it a name. Do not change the .xml file type. Go to the folder you chose and verify that your backup exists.
3. Extract all of the files in your new download to c:\program files. This will automatically put the files in c:\program files\WAM 2.05.
4. Open Windows Explorer and browse to c:\program files\WAM 2.05.
5. Run Setup.exe. It will ask if you wish to remove or repair version 1.49. Choose remove (ONLY if you know your backup is made properly.
6. Run Setup.exe again. This will install version 2.05.
7. Run your new version of WAM. It will say this is your first time running this program, please fill in info. Cancel this.
8. Go to File-Restore Auctions. Click on the blue folder icon and browse to your backup and select the file.
9. Click Restore. This will import all of your info from your backup.
10. Download Master Data. If you get a connection error, go to Tools-Preferences and retype your password (I had to).

DONE.

If you have any questions about this please ask! I'll try to help you out.

tried to answer sooner, crazy day..and I don't know anything at all about windows
Vista..(I was afraid to advise:o) I thought the 2.05 would work anywhere but on
a MAC system..Admin will help more I am sure. Roz and some of our other members
know a lot more about WAM than I do. We sure are glad you are here, and hope we
can help.

I have no experience with Vista, but my experience with WAM 2.05 was that if you downloaded it and did a clean install (not upgrading a prior version) it would install properly. Also, if you are getting errors, posting the error message is very helpful.

Thanks for posting that. Unfortunately, that is one I do not know. Admin may have to help you with it.

When does the error happen? During install or sometime when running?

Are you installing fresh or updating?

Have you done ALL windows updates?

WAM should work with the default db settings in Vista. There should not be any need to update jet. When installing are you getting a prompt or error? If so, what exactly does it say? Is there anything listed in your error_log.txt file, which is located in the WAM install folder?

We have a new release that should be posted within the next few hours. I am not sure if this will resolve your issues, but I know there are many database and config changes... so there is a posibility that this could resolve this issue for you.

I will forward these details to our programmers, to see if this is an issue that was addressed with the latest release, or if this is a seperate issue.

We released the newest version of the auction manager earlier today, which is version 2.10. Due to the amount of database and config updates for this version, there will not be an auto update option from previous versions. Users would need to uninstall older versions, then install the new version.

If you have templates and auctions that you would like to save, you would need to backup auctions from the file menu, before uninstalling. After installing the new version, you would then restore auctions from the tools menu.

Sorry about the download link... I have updated to reflect the proper url.

I am not sure about vista ultimate. We have tested an ran on vista premium with no issues. I am still waiting to hear back from our programmers regarding this issue, and will let you know when we do.

I have just got word back from our programmers, and they say it is an issue with your system being 64 bit, as this is a 32 bit program. I have asked them to look into the possibility of being able to run on 64 bit, as well as 32 bit. So hopefully we will have a version shortly that will run on your system as well.

sniperace66
04-22-2008, 05:55 PM
ok thanks i do not want to go back to 32 bit because 64 bit is
much faster. so ill wait to see what happens if you come up
with a 64 bit program or windows bata fix works.

still waiting for them to email me bata fix will take them forever :D

sniper,

Good news... Work is currently underway to make this program 64 bit compatable. There is a significant amount of work involved, so it will be a week or two before completion. So hang in there and we will have something for you shortly.
