Dear WeBidz Community,
My name is Justan and I work in the Help Desk and have spoken to alot of you who have created tickets there. I primarily work with tickets that come in under General Questions. I was contacted by James, who extends his applogies for his short absence while he feverishly investigates this recent problem. He wants to have a better understanding as to what has happened in order to give clear explanation to you all. First of all, this was not a planned maintenance, but an emergency maintenance issue. That is why nodody was given any warning, including us.
I am not totally familiar with this issue, because I just work tickets for general site questions. I have been briefly told about this issue, and that there was an auction database corruption yesterday. And the sites auctions are being replaced from a backup. The backup is a couple weeks old, because last weeks backup had issues. James and others are still working on this issue, and probably will still be working on it for the rest of the day, and into tomorrow. if your auctions were new listings within the last couple weeks, chances are they are lost for good. Did you list your items with the auction manager? if you did, you would be able to simply reupload those missing auctions to make them active again. If you have auctions listed in your open section in the members area, but they say they are closed, those will be relisted within the next 24 hours.
James has mentioned that he will be issueing a site credit for all affected members. He is not sure the amount right now, but figures that it would be somewhere between $25 to $500 or more, depending on the severity of loss. This credit would be good for listing enhancements and upgrading stores. James will be dealing with all the account credits personally, so please send an email to admin@webidz.com if this is something you are interested in. Please include as much details as possible in the email, like number of auctions lost, time lost, your username, etc. That way james can fully understand your situation, and give you an appropriate credit. We are very sorry for this issue, and understand the frustrations involved. At this point I am not sure what caused the issue, if it was a software issue or a human issue, but I am sure james will further address this in the community pages.
Thank you so much for your continued patience,
justan
