Hi,
I've had items up for auction for several weeks - with no bids. The last time I contacted you, I was told to make sure that I had 'key' words listed in my store and auction descriptions. I did that several weejs ago but even now when I go to SEARCH and type in words that should bring up MY auctions and store, (along with others), nothing remotely related to the items I am auctioning comes up.
For example: In my item categories and descriptions I put these words: Handbags, quilted handbags, purses, quilts, handcrafted. If I go to SEARCH and type in ANY of these words - NONE of my auction items show up in the search results.
Also, when I go to MY STORE and look at my store pages, I see that in the box where it reads "Number of Store Featured Items" mine is ZERO! When I listed my items, I checked the box for BOTH.
I feel that I am missing out on potential buyers because when someone does a search on webidz.com for the types of items I am trying to sell, my items and my store are not popping up in the search results.
CAN YOU PLEASE HELP??? I'm not angry, just extremely frustrated.
Thank you,
Lamb Creek Quilter

Lamb,
The store featured items doesn't mean how many items you have listed in your store......click on my webidz banner, you will see a difference in what my store home page and yours looks like......store featured items rotate in your store home page....then everything you have listed is below that. You set those options in your members area, store tab, then store pages sub tab.
You will see three boxes all have 0's in them....you can set those to any number between 0-10.
Try putting handbag, purse, quilts, or handgrafted in your titles...not just in your descriptions...see if that helps pull them up.
Hope this helps.
Hang in there. We will help figure this out and see if we can get yours to start showing up.
P.S. I searched handbags.....and went into the catagories and while scrolling through the pages to see if I could find one of yours.....at the top in rotation I found this http://www.webidz.com/Cell-Phone-Bag,name,1696340,auction_id,auction_details it was viewed 5 times before me. And your store is rotating to the left where it says shop in stores.
P.S.S.....I done an advanced search and put in quilted handbags to search in handbags,bags.......and pulled up several of your listings. So you are there I promise.

Hi Lamb,
Just wanted you to know that Admin continues to work on our search function,
and it continues to improve, and will get better and better! Thank you so much for
your patience. :)

Dear Friends (Unclejunk1, Kathy and Lana),
I appreciate you helping me more than I can say. I've taken your advice and changed the titles of all my listings, and I've also changed the listings so that they will be 'featured' (I hope I did it right). Lastly, I've changed my listings and set them to Auto Relist (which I didn't understand at all until you were kind enough to explain how it works to me).
Unclejunk, I see that I do not have a banner! Yea!
Thank you again, everyone, for your help and support!

Lambs items ARE great.........
I'm already having to keep my daughter from bamies pages, now I'm gonna have to keep her from Lambs pages also. She is a purse freak and will run me into the poor house if she sees all these hand made things. Ron wouldn't be able to drive truck enough miles to cover the money she would want to spend LOL.
You have some tough compitition Lamb, all those coach and other designer?? bags that are listed. Wishing you much success.

Oh thank you all for your nice compliments on my items! I try. ;) Yes, I make everything that I list in my store. Right now I am filling orders for purses sold elsewhere (sold 11 of them in the past 2 weeks) so my sewing machines are always humming. I hope to get caught up with outside orders and be able to make new quilted things in my store weekly (as my ad states). I do have one purse that's ready to list - just need to take photos and upload the info.
BTW, I am PLEASED AS PUNCH about the way my store looks now! I did as Kathy and Unclejunk said to do with my items, changed the listings, then did searches and a lot of my stuff popped up, plus I have a banner, and I have the 'featured items' on my page too. Yea! Thank you so much!
Now, for my next dumb question: I am a member of a couple of on-line quilter's forums and would like to have my webidz banner show up whenever I post elsewhere. Is it possible to paste it in to those places, and to add it to my e-mails? If so, can someone please explain how to do it (Again, Directions for Dummies needed). I want everyone to visit webidz. It's great!

P.S. What is a Repatoo banner? Where and how do I get one of those? How does it work? Is it used to direct others to Webidz? What is this.....20 QUESITONS???? LOL
P.S. TO LANA. It took me 80 hours of sewing to make the quilt I have listed in my store. One of my original designs and quilted using the Cotton Theory.

Lamb,
Glad we could be of help. You do have great items, I have not let my daughter see any yet LOL. I'm a tomboy so I don't even carry a purse, she is the prissy one.
I do have a code that you can use in your mail (depending on what email service you use). Not sure you can post it in other forums but can't hurt to try. If you use yahoo mail I can give you the step by step instructions on getting the banner in your signature there for all your outgoing mail. It's in mine. Admin says all email servers are different so it's just a trial and error on getting it in there or if they even let you. Just post back and let me know.
Edit...posting at the same time as you......now for the repatoo banner, if you sold on other auction sites (i.e. Ebay) and you have a reputation there that you would like people here to see (to build trust as a seller) then you can go to Repatoo.com. Sign up and it walks you through the steps of adding the other sites, (you can add Webidz also) then it will direct you to get your code (similar to the one for your Webidz banner), copy the code (make sure to get the bbcode) and paste it in your signature here like you did the Webidz banner. Then you will have 2 banners in your siggy here just like me, lana and several others.

Kathy, thank you for the information. I will go to Repatoo.com and see if I can get the banner.
Also, I do use yahoo for my business e-mail, but also use AOL e-mail. I'd love for you to give me the steps to add my banner to my e-mail (Yahoo) if it's not too much trouble. Thanks a bunch!:)
Joie
P.S. I have some really cute bags to make as soon as I get caught up with orders (hopefully I'll be able to add some by the end of next week). Don't know if your daughter likes bigger bags or smaller ones, but eventually, I hope to have several styles and sizes to choose from. You might want to block your DD's access. LOL I'm a tomboy too - so you, Lana and I already have something in common.

Hi Lamb:
It looks like you set up your Repatoo account properly. It looks like you added and verified your WeBidz account and added, but did not verify, your other account. I would definitely recommend verifiying your other account.
Let me know if you need help inserting the generated BBCode into your signature here.

I am still planning on putting together a definitive resource of how to do all this and post it in the forum... just have to find the time!

<a href="http://www.webidz.com/stores/Lamb Creek Quilter">
<img src="http://www.webidz.com/wb_img/wb_store_1.gif" border="0"></a>
Copy code.
Then sign in to yahoo mail and click options (upper right hand side of screen),
Then make sure to click show graphics and color(link above text box), and the show html first (located at the bottom of the text box).
THEN paste code.
Make sure you have add signature to all outgoing messages checked.
Then save.
Send yourself an email.....you should have the webidz banner at the bottom of the email and should be able to click it and have it open a new window and take you directly into your store home page here.
This is for Yahoo mail....dont know about the other mail servers. If all else fails on other mail servers....you can create your own link by doing one like this ...
http://www.webidz.com/stores/ whatever your user name is.(Lamb Creek Quilter)
Its kinda plain but you can also add above that something to the effect of....Shop (store name) by clicking link below.

Rick,
I truly am a computer 'dummy', and no longer embarrassed to admit it. LOL I have no idea what I did on Repatoo last night. I just followed the directions given, but I don't know what the BB code is, I don't know how to verify my other (which one?) account, etc. YES! I do need help inserting the generated BB code here, PLEASE :o Thanks!
Kat, I have just printed off your instructions for inserting my banner into my signature. I'll give it a try and hopefully I'll do it right. Thanks so much!

Now that John and Roz have skirted around and helped you........
I noticed that you had said that you were able to get the Webidz in your email? If so Great......not sure you can do repatoo in your email, never tried.
But they got you going here so that's great.
John, I don't drink (much) and I would never give my children anything to drink (unless I just wanted to knock them out/which I would never do:D) LOL
I read this posts but feel like I am from another planet{?}...I spin my wheels, having learned how to make listings and occasionally catch a fish~ but for the most part I list and I list and maybe one in30 gets caught. It gets exhausting and confusing...Like Repatoo {?}what is that? I havent been able to make clickable banners [if that is what that is?] either and apparently I dont know how to promote.
I ahve signed up for paypal without a problem a few years ago, but lately with Moneybookers,Google Checkout and RevolutionaryMoney Exchange so I list them as options but dont think any of them work{?}
Maybe I am getting too old and just cant figure things out.. start a dozen things, finish none...or do them wrong.
whenever my computer crashes, and I lose my 'favorites' sometimes it takes months before I find sites already joined and sometimes only after they inform me I already have an account!
For those who dont sell online, they cant imagine how complicated it gets or how many hours have to be put in to culminate in a $.50 cent sale!...spinning my wheels and getting now where is what I think I am doing.
My biggest problem is that I dont know most of the questions to ask ...Then even when I do, I dont understand how to employ the answer.I am not completely stupid as I have worked with tech supports and have rebullt my computers so I can take directions, even if I forget once the job is done. that is the main reason I auto relist my auctions once I finally have them online.
Since I create my merchandise, being an artist and doing most of my own printing as well, all I have to do each auction is to change to the next limited edition number. That I can do even if I am getting a bit senile.
Google checkout writes to me and says they see that I have an account but havent used it. I dont know how~ then they send me links with a bejillion words that cloud my mind and leave me confused. they write back and ask if they can help... so I say yeah.. then the bejillion words and confusion come again... I must be missing something [like my mind?] as there has to be an easier way...{?}...so now I tell people I accept checks .. a no brainer.. but still having not had many sales I havent encountered any issues [yet] but the day someone wants to pay with Googlechechout, moneybookers etc., I have yet to see what will happen...
Just venting and also wondering if anyone knows how to make this all easier??
:) Ave

This is about as easy as it gets! Like you said there is alot work behind this and alot of people don't know that! As of sales! There down in every site! We have 10 stores and on 4 auction sites and everyone is down! It's the ecomony!

Ave..Mr John is very correct..sales are way way off everywhere and he and his wife and
my family have all worked in both retail and online sales for many many years.
I am going to give you a method that is going to sound somewhat simplistic and 'DUH' :D
But it worked for me many years ago, when at OVER 50, I put my mind and hands to a
PC for the first time. (I did not even know where the 'on' button was!) I KNOW
how discouraged you get. This IS a EASY site to learn on, believe me, as I have 'done' about
15 of them.
OK..when I would get these mega long instructions, I would FIRST..PRINT them out. Do you
remember in college how we highlighted important or 'key' passages and details?
You are going to do the very same thing here. However, I also would do my highlighting
with as in step (1) >> Step(2)>>...,...,. This may not work for you, but I am now at a level with
NO pc training that I am able to do almost anything online as well as photography and editing,
FTP protocol, HTML, as well as many more things.
Ave, if you need me, I (do) work but am in here HOURS of everyday. I would be most happy
to help, if I am able and wish you all the very best.
As to the sales MJ and I have been here for a long, LONG time and we had to wait and be
very patient for our sales, and they did come in time. All the best to you. Have you considered
one of the art niche sites, as well?
I have just succeeded in signing up for repatoo.. I havent been able to get my plunderhere added as it wants a user id# but they only supply a usernamer on plunderehere... It did take my ebay [although I am not currently listing fhere since I joined here...
One small acompllishment.....and 20 more failures,,lol..
I now find my RME isnt working..tsk tsk.. starting all over again -more to the to do list like fixing my google checkout..

Mr.John, thankyou very much~! good ideas all of them and I do and will appreciate the help... I feel like I am ADHD online...for example while doing Repatoo, I started with my ebay id... easy and got it started.then I went to add Plunderehere...no user id#...searched the site and found an unfinished deal about getting RME from the lady who referred me there, so up another tab and I went to RME , after she sent me a test request for $.01 to try it out... then I find I am not registered, that my application never finished although they had all my banking info and other stuff, because I didnt have a 'cell phone' something stopped the process and it all expired...So I go back to my email and have one from here, so another 'click' and I am onto another rabbit hole of unfinished work...
I was supposed to leave for an errand 3 hours ago..but here I am still online, needing to intall another usb port that requires turning off the computer...it never ends, lol...
I am signing off for now and will start again later...
