James,
Is there a possible way that we could check out how active a member is?
I know we can look at members profiles and it says "last active" with a date, but that is for the community section only. A member who doesn,t visit the forums we have no way of knowing how active a member is when trying to assist another member.
It would be great if that "last active" date reflects any activity on the site.

i do believe with vBulletin that you can actully put and icon next to the name that tells
others when you are online next to each post that thay ever made.
when I had vBulletin on my site we had this feature on was nice to know who was online
when posting a message.

We have that sniper......the little green dot next to your name.
But I'm more referring to those members who do not visit the community and create or reply to posts.
Example.........member 1 comes to community needing assistance with member 2. Member 2 has never come to commuity forums. Can't really tell member 1 much if we don't know how active member 2 is on the site in general.

Does anyone have any hints as to how we might get more of the membership TO
the forums, and active in them? :)

Go to their homes, grab them by the hair, place them in front of the computer, glue them to their chairs, put the computer to community forums, and put toothpicks on their eyes to hold them open and force them to look at the screen and make the computer automatically refresh and go to any thread that is being discussed at the time.:D Surely they will see a discussion they just HAVE to join in on.
Nope, no ideas here.

Kat,
I do not see us doing anything like this with the current platform. But it may be a possibility to implement something similar to vBulletins system into our new platform. Even if we were to do something like this, it would still be quite a ways out... So I cannot make any promises at this time.
Lana,
I have not said anything about this publicly yet, but WeBidz will be hosting "points only" auctions. Where we will be auctioning off merchandise, which can only be paid with points accumulated in the community. So this should be a strong factor in driving buyers into the community. This is still about 2-3 weeks out, but is coming soon...

WOW cool info, Ace!! I did not know that, I knew it CAN take a searcher right to

THAT is what I was hoping Boss!! That is great..NOW also how about asking members
if THEY would like to sell with points? Is that possible to implement? Prolly , maybe, no,
hope so?? :D

James,
Would be a great "tool", unless you would rather us leave issues between members to you. Just trying to be helpful.
Lana,
If Admin is gonna have a car I can purchase with my WEPS, I'm in LOL. I'll be transferring more over to savings on a daily basis.
Really though, just tinkering with those WEPS to see what they do. Cause I'm just one of those peeps that have to figure out how something works and the results of it.

When sellers have a link to their store in their signature and make posts in the community, it is adding link popularity to their stores. That is why we encourage store links in signatures, and activity in the community. Providing links to your stores in other forums and social networking sites is also encouraged, as this will also increase link popularity. The more link popularity your store has, the higher it will rank in search engines, and the more often it will be indexed.

Is there a place to go, Boss..or anyone..to find out how banking points works? I have never
understood that..do they build up higher when you bank them..what happens? I am not
sure.
Boss, that is great info on the searches!!

Lana,
This will simply be an added category of "points only auctions", or something similar. Bidding would be the same, and would be displayed in $$... But $1.00 would equal 100 points, or $2.50 would equal 250 points, etc.
Sellers could list in this category if they wish. But we don't have a points to cash conversion as of yet, so it would not be financially rewarding to do so at this time.
THAT is what I was hoping Boss!! That is great..NOW also how about asking members
if THEY would like to sell with points? Is that possible to implement? Prolly , maybe, no,

Kat,
You are very helpful in responding to questions/issues that members have. I am not saying to not do this, as you are a great help. I was just saying that such a system would not be able to be implemented with our current platform. I do think this would be a positive addition though... Where a buyer could see "at a glance" the last time a seller logged into their account, or if they were logged in right now... along with a "live chat" type of console for questions.
I don't like making promises, as we have not even looked into this in detail. So if we were able to implement something like this, it would have to be with our new platform that still has a ways to go. So I am not brushing off your suggestion, just being cautious in how I respond. I don't like saying we will do something, if I don't know for sure. Broken promises don't sit well with me.
Regarding the car... maybe a matchbox:).

If points are put into savings, they earn 3 1/2% interest (accrued monthly). But you cannot spend points that are in savings. So if you are planning on spending, they are best left in checking.

Boss, the live chat and online icon would be a great tool in members helping themselves.
You are a busy man and I certainly don't look for "overnight fixes".
In requards to the car,,,,,,,Put in some matchbox "Bigfoot" "Gravedigger", "Offroad trucks", you know the ones you need rope ladders to get in. Yep I'm a country girl, we go offroadin (muddin) quite often round here :D. If it don't have at least 3 inches of red Okie dirt on it, it ain't worth it. I'll leave the Hummers and Caddies to someone else. I have never seen the point in puttin a vehicle on the road that costs more than a house.

heres a program that should work with vBulletin
check it out http://www.tufat.com/s_flash_chat_chatroom.htm

Ace, Is that chat selective, or is it visible to all? (re: privacy) reason I ask
is I am very deaf..(yes really:o) and no prob., except when Admin or other
business friends want to talk to me on telephone, I hear maybe half of what
they say. It is sort of embarrassing for me, and is limiting. Thanks for the
link.:D
sniperace66
05-04-2008, 02:28 PM
yes it would be available for all registered members
It has rooms in it and i would imagine that you can lock a room if you want to make it private
(password locked) but you would have to have the rights to that option (admin)
Lanascountry
05-04-2008, 02:38 PM
I know on my other VB chats you have to be invited for them to be visible. (IOW),
when you logged in, the other roomies 'see ya' :D
sniperace66
05-04-2008, 03:12 PM
I do not know what is all available in this program but it looks like you setup the rooms you want
and user would have to login using their user name and you are able to move room to room
and chat via the keyboard (maybe a mic too) with other members like in chat rooms no video
but i could be wrong. i guess if admin is interested in putting this in his programmers will know
what to do.

The chat I was referring to was something I would like to see with our new auction platform, not the vBulletin system. If members would like to see a chat within the community, please give us some feedback about this. I am sure there are some good mods out there for this, if this is something our members are interested in.
I know we tried the flashchat like 2-3 years ago for a different business application, but there were quite a few bugs. It may be worth looking into it again... If we were to implement something into the community, I would rather it be an integrated system, and not an external script.

That flash-chat looks a bit like those 'spam you' programs to me, but I could be really wrong
there.. Boss you KNOW I would LOVE to have a chat platform in here.. It would help me a great
deal. The program needs to be that type that you 'INVITE' what ever user or users in to the room
and is not available to be seen by others, NOT part of that individual group. This way we might
also be able to work more closely with active members and community leaders..this is JMO.
Thanks:D

they are others that will blend in with vBulletin and only the people that are in chat
would be able to see it . but i do not believe that you can create rooms in them
could be wrong only looked for a brief time . but this 1 offers rooms that users can
go to and if a moderator or admin are present can lock a room for private
conversations.
