Sponsor links on main page does not look good
But thats what I think.
Takes up valuable space ...and turn off many people right from the beginning.
My 10 cents.

Marcel,
The sponsor links are currently what funds the majority of the sites operations. We will be decreasing the amount of advertising on the site next year, when we start charging final sale fees. But it is a needed revenue stream at this point.

When it does not cost much to list, there will be a lot of things that won't attrack byers that are going to be visible instead of the product they want to buy.
I don't see why auction sites would take money out of a final value fee like ebay is doing.
Higher listing fees are required to iliminate duplicates and things that does not sale.
I used google to search for items I have listed both in Ebay and Here at a lower price to encorage visiting customers to purchase here instead of Ebay and I have yet to sale one G5 Laser Mouse. Google search pop items on ebay much more on first pages then Webidz does and that doesn't help but I am not sure what we can do about that.

Just our thoughts!! We wouldn't be here if there was listing fees as we woul have a arm and a leg out there to pay for 6300 items listed! Were ok if there was a Final Sale Fee as long as we can get the fee back if we have a bad buyer!
As for sponsors, thats fine to be there on the home page! We have sponsors on all our online stores and it doesn't bother our sales at all!
Just our thoughts!!

EZ-PC,
What ads specifically do you find offensive on the home page, and why? Do they offend your design sensibility, or is there some company featured on the ads that is a competitor to yours? And is it the site sponsor ads or the Google Ads?
Personally, I do not find these ads offensive in any way. In fact, I have been wondering how much they cost as I cannot seem to find a link anywhere on the site about advertising.

Small final value fees are okay because it is a guaranteed sale unlike listing fees and we would not be here either (non paying bidders excluded as long as funds would be return as stated above.
Admin how much would the FVF be?
sponsors pay the bills just the way it is.
there are things to improve the overall look to the site it is kinda plain and typical but you have to start somewhere!
thanks

:eek:Woops..sorry, Flash..I did not catch that part. I am SURE that IF and WHEN admin
decides to charge FVFs we will have built up our businesses and that the amount
will be very fair..(LOW) he is very good to all of us and this (his) site.

When we do implement final value fees it will be around 2 - 2 1/2%. We will not be implementing until we have a system in place, where buyers can easily recover fees when they have a non paying bidder. So it will basically be an automated system (with manual audits by us), where it will only take a click or two by the seller to recover fees.

Admin! One thing we would like you to look at when you do that is that on other sites it takes about 14 days to get back FVFs! If you can get that shorten up as in 14 days as most sellers have a 7 to 10 day payment due listed in there terms! we could have sold that item but had to hold it!
You know what i mean!
Thanks

mj,
I am not sure all the details at this time, so I would not be able to provide a viable answer right now. Once we get everything implemented, we will be able to modify times if needed. The big thing is getting something implemented that works easily for all.
