Is anyone else having problems with their "location" preferance carring over to "New Auction"? In my preferances I have United States listed as my location, when I go to list a new auction, it comes up with Afganistan, (the 1st on the list). I have gone to preferances and set other countries and it still does on carry over to list new auction. Hopefully it is not an operator error again.:o

Thanks for your insight and input on this.

This is not an operator error, but rather an issue with the version you are running.

This was a known issue that was fixed in previous versions... evidently you have one of the versions that has the auto update issues, since your software has not updated. We recommend that you first "check for updates" from the tools menu. If this does not work, you may have to uninstall this version, then install the new version.

If you have auctions in the auction manager program that you have yet to upload, you can use the "backup auctions" options from the file menu, to save your items before uninstall. Then after installing the new version, you can use the "restore auctions" option to import back into the program. This also saves all your profile info as well, as long as you leave that option checked when exporting.

If your auctions are already uploaded to the WeBidz site, this will be much easier... As you can simply "update inventory from WeBidz" after you install the new version, and it will download all your active auctions. So there would be no need to complete the above export/import steps.

Below is the url for the latest version of the auction manager. You would need to just download and extract the contents to your desktop. After uninstalling the previous version, you would execute the setup.exe file to complete install. After install is complete you would enter your username and password on the preferences page. Then download master data from the file menu. Now you can "update inventory from WeBidz" from the file menu, and this will update all your inventory from the site.

We are very sorry for this inconvenience, and thank you for your patience with us.

Admin,
I am using AdAuction Manager v1.4.6.0, which is the most recent one you posted. When I go to the tools menu to check for updates, I get a message that there are no updates. I have Country, State and Zip in my preferances.

Not a biggie to me, just annoying to have to remember to go down and set them in each auction.

Thanks for your help,

Actually 1.4.6.0 is not the latest version. 1.4.8.5 is now the latest version. We have a new version(update) about once a week. We do not detail every update in the community pages, as most updates are minor changes that are not very significant. I will be sure to post an update in those community pages later today, regarding the most current version.

Like I stated previously, there were some issues in 1.4.6 and 1.4.7 that made the auto update function not act correctly in some installs. Evidently your application is subject to this issue.

The newest version does not have these issues. So we recommend downloading the newest release from the above url, then following the install instructions.

But i sign in then go to download data and the message comes up like it did a few weeks ago (wrong username or password) I have not changed my password and i even updated it the last time here to try it after it failed many times and still does it! I even tryed to removed and downloaded this 5 times now and nothing! Think i'll just stay the old fashion way!

After you downloaded, did you extract the files from the zip before installing? Or did you possibly just view the files with your zip program, and install while still zipped?

Another thing that used to be an issue with versions from a couple months ago... Not sure what previous version you were running. When uninstall was completed, not all files were removed. So fresh installs were still experiencing some of the same issues. After you uninstall, you may want to physically delete the original install folder. Which is by default located at C:/program files/webidz auction manager/

Then do a fresh install from the files after you extract them from the zip.

Yes we unziped the files to the desk top and we also manully deleted the old files in C and were ever else we found them too! We followed the instuctions you have in the thread above to the T! From a while ago when we had all that problem we remembered everything to check that you told us before! We have done everything! I think it might be this window 98! We'll just do it the old fashion way!

Thanks

Change my name to BAD LUCK or UNLUCKY! What you think! Ha! Ha!

hmmmm, Windows 98... That may be the issue. I know there was an update to the software for such connect issues. I believe it was an MS Access component if I remember correctly, and I don't think that is compatable with 98.

I am going to double check with our programmers though.

Adnin,
You are the greatest, the location is now working for me. I just ran a test and it worked great.
Now one more question...Why can I not choose 2 sub-categories of the same mailn category ie:Home & Garden - Home Decor-Wall Decor and Home & Garden - Patio & Grilling.

Thanks again for your help,
Roz

We're glad everything is working for you. The category issue that you speak of was implemented to keep sellers from listing items in the same categories, which we find much of this.

I am not sure if you are aware of this, but you can create custom categories for your store on the site. Then when listing from the auction manager you can choose one site category, and one of your store categories (which cannot be done by listing on the site). You would have to be sure to "download master data" after you add cateories on the site, so these changes reflect within your auction manager.

Thanks Admin for the explanation!! I will try the custom categories later. Right now I am headed off to bed.

You are Super!!
