Due to the lack of interest in the sell2win and shop2win contests, we will be discontinuing these contests at the end of May. There will be winners selected and paid at the beginning of June, for contest participation for the month of May.

The funds normally allocated for these contests will be invested in our exchange points promotions, where cash and products can be purchased and/or won.

We know there will be some members that will not like this announcement, but we have to make decisions that will better benefit the site as a whole. We may bring these contests back at a later date, but we cannot make any promises at this time.

The auction site has been growing fairly fast, and we feel we need to do something to have the community keep pace. Having tangible items that can be purchased with WeBex Points seems like a possibilty to achieve this. Only time will tell...

There has been talk about the option of going public, but I don't think that will ever happen. We don't like the idea of giving control of business decisions to whomever decides to invest the most into the company. We feel that we would be able to best run the company with the beliefs and ideas we hold, instead of shareholders just looking for more profits.

We could most likely get millions of dollars fairly quick by going public, which some might think would be good... But would you want greedy investors making decisions on site policies and pricing? We think that using our own funds and growing at a steady pace would be best for all involved with WeBidz.

Exactly, and this is what we do not want. Look at Craigslist... ebay bought like 30%, then wanted to change their whole fee structure. Craigslist did not want to go in the direction that ebay wanted, now they are both suing each other. Great way to run a business... Investors suing the company, and the company suing investors.

This is the main reason why ebay started kijiji.com. It is a free service just like craigslist. They will get the popularity up on kijiji and take craiglist business away, then start charging fees.
