Which is allowable or preferred at Webidz?

Personally, I don't like choice listings. These are where for example, I list a candle once--offering choice of fragrance and list the fragrances. It would be multiple fixed price and the buyer would have to tell me their choice of fragrance. This has the potential to be abused as I can upsell off site. Like the buyer buys one candle and in our emails I offer them a discount to buy 2. This means I circumvent fees. Bad idea.

The other way would be to list each candle by size and fragrance. Easier to track sales by title of item. Easier for customer to pick the size & fragrance they want. The cons are of course pages and pages of listings with the only difference being size and fragrance.

Which do you prefer, James? I checked the Listing policy. The muliple listings doesn't quite address it as I only list my items once. There is no Choice Items listing policy. :o

FWIW...the 'other' site seems to allow it. amazing....LOL

Choice Listings - A listing where a seller allows buyers to choose from a selection of completely different items. In general, sellers are permitted to offer a choice of sizes, colors and configurations of a particular item within a listing, However, a listing may not offer buyers a choice of completely different items.

Just let me know whenever you have a chance. Just working on my spreadsheet. Easy to insert or delete rows. No hurry.

Sylvia,

At this time we do not have any policies against choice listings. There is no final sale fees at this time, so circumventing fees of course is not an issue.

We would rather not have choice listings, as it tends to cause a degree of confusion.

Examples:
A buyer purchases an item and pays instantly through direct pay. You are not sure which color items to ship, so you have to wait for a response from them, when they are expecting you to ship immediately.

A buyer purchases an item from you and pays instantly. They tell you they want their item in blue... You don't have any more blue, so you have to give a refund.

I think it is best to not offer choice listings, but will leave this up to you at this time. Next year when we start charging final sale fee, we will most likely have to develop such a policy.

WOO HOO! Glad we see eye to eye! :p

So you don't like 'em & I don't like 'em and the list of reasons is a good one. Thanks much!

No problem. Let us know if you have any further questions.

It may mean more auctions for you to manage, but it would make it easier in the long run... Plus we do not charge listing fees, so there is not really any benefit for choice listings in a financial aspect.

In one way, it makes it easier for a seller to manage - since we can tell by the title what was sold. Buyers can hopefully tell from a well crafted listing ("See my other listings for more fragrances/sizes/colors") that they have more to pick from. It's all goooood. :D
