View Full Version : Questionable Salers

I have being looking around to buy things and I keep on seeing salers trying to sale Windows XP Corporate ED for 15$, just this would totally throw me off as a buyer because I sure as hell know how much such a license cost and at that price I know it got to be either pirated software or a true scam. Leaving those auctions up will turn away at least 20-50% of the buyers. I personally would turn away from such an auction site..
Can you please have someone go over auctions and what is questionable such as this be removed from the site?
:(

Hi Ezpc..we are in the process of searching out such auctions and removing
them. Many times the reports of our members is extremely helpful in the rapid removal
of this type issue or item for sale. PLEASE fill out a support ticket on this and I will send
to admin to address ASAP. Many thanks for the report.

ez,
When reports are made on auctions, we do look into and remove many. We do not have the resources to constantly browse auctions, looking for items that may or may not be legit. If you have the auction numbers, could you send to admin@webidz.com or submit a ticket at our help desk. We ask that members do not make such reports with auction numbers here in the community, as there could be potential to unjustly damage a sellers reputation if a claim does not have merit.

The help desk is a little more work for members, but it helps us track issues appropriately. Otherwise thing tend to get overlooked at times, or not dealt with how it should be. We have new staff at the help desk, so it has been a little slower lately... so please bear with us if things are a little slow.

Help Desk, desk side/email/phone support, was one of my functions as a Systems Analyst. It's a handful, so I understand. Be nice to them, sir! LOL

I know it is and I am very patient. I still have to work quite a few tickets myself, so the better job I do in training, the less I will have to do there in the long run.

I am a reasonably new user to this auction site, but liked what I saw and started a store. Previous to that, I did alot of shopping on the "big" auction site and always followed a few simple rules.
If the auction sounded too good to be true - it probably was. In the case of software it would probably be a bootleg copy that would not work. Either that or it would be a scam aimed at getting your money and disappearing before you caught on.
Always read the auctions carefully and if you have questions, email the seller before bidding. If you get no reply, the seller does not get a sale.
Check the feedbacks look for problems. Most sellers will never make every customer 100% happy, but if you see a lot of negatives or they have a low feedback percentage, that usually indicates a problem.
Also check the shipping and handling to see what those charges will be. An old trick on the other site would be to have a seller list their items for a few bucks and then charge an arm and leg for shipping and handling. The object of this was to avoid paying listing and end of auction fee on the real selling price since they did not count shipping and handling as part of the money made in the auction.
While we all hope that all sellers will be on the up and up, there are those that are not. The people running this site are doing a terrific job keeping everything in order, but still it is a big responsibilty and very time consuming. It is and would be impossible for the admins on this site to keep track of every auction posted, every hour, every day of the week - if they did it would probably take a few days for new auctions to be available.
With that said, it is up to us, the buyers and sellers to keep things honest. Do not list items you can not deliver and do not bid on items you can not pay for. Let's face it this is a sellers paradise, no real fees to pay and the store prices are fantastic. For the buyers that could very well mean better deals. Simply put, we have a good thing going here, let us not mess it up.

As requested, tried to set up a signature. But being just about hopeless when it comes to doing stuff like this, it will be interesting to see what shows up.

Hey there spooky thanks for the advise and you are absolutely right about the sounds to good to be true parts. Been caught there once or twice sad to say. I do carry software and just to let everyone know it is not pirated it is the real deal. I just happen to have two windows vista packages up for auction 1. full version and 1 upgrade version and that is the real price and shipping. and COA comes with. Yes there are a great deal of people out there who just want to take advantage and that just freakin bites makes it hard on us honests ones to make it out here. I have only been here a shot time and yes my feedback is low just a few purchases i've made, but i am trying really hard to make it here as is a whole bunch of folks dontcha know. Anyways I would like to welcome you aboard the Webidz family glad to have ya here good luck to ya with your sales and bidding. Hope to see ya in the hangman forum sometime its fun come by check it out.:)

jtsspecialties, you are absolutely right, it takes just one bad dealer to throw suspicion on the rest of the sellers.
When I bought software on line, I would look for "Factory Sealed Box" or "New in Box" in the description. If it was used I would look to see if documentation was included.
Having photos also helped and it did not matter if it was not a perfectly crisp photo, just something that would show me what I would be getting.
I know, by looking at your store and rep, you already know all this, but perhaps someone reading this will not. It really does not take much to spot a seller who is not on the up and up, it is just a matter of reading and understanding what the auction says.
Buyers always have to remember once they place a bid, they are obligated to follow through so if they have any doubts they need to email the seller and ask questions. A little research at the beginning will save a lot of heartache at the end.

Yep you are absolutely right about that for sure I do whole heartedly agree with you on the emails that is why I encourage potential bidders to contact me if they have any questions If I don't have an answer right away I am talking to my suppliers to get them the proper answer. By all means I will do everything I can to satisfy the buyers questions to the best of my ability. Once I get going and make some residual income I will be able to start building an inventory and my photos will be changed right now this all I have to go with.
I have seen other OEM software going for as little as 15.00 with out COA. I did scratch my head in AWE at that for sure. I wish you the best of luck here I hope you've found a new home for your business as I have.
This site and the staff are top notch in my book. You have a great day.
