:p:p:p Go, Australia, Go! That's what eBay gets for calling us all "noise"!! hehehe Let's hope Australia goes through with blocking eBay in Australia as it will set the precedent.

Government regulators in Australia have told eBay to hold off on plans to move to a PayPal-only marketplace in Australia on June 17, 2008. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) said it believes consumers are in the best position to determine whether, for their particular transaction, PayPal offers the best features in terms of security, fraud protection, dispute resolution and insurance, at the price offered. It also said that having a single payment provider on eBay may reduce the incentive for other payment systems to develop more secure and cost effective systems.

That's ok. Posted in one place is enough, thank you ma'am. ;)

The Aussie's have my admiration and respect. They stood up for themselves and spoke up, LOUDLY. Their government isn't giving in to corporate greed. Great job.

I subscribe to Ina's newsletter and publish her feed on one (or two?) of my lenses. I sent her a link about d_thadd's dollar auction, but I guess she wasn't interested in that story.

I live in hope that eBay will listen, but it will take a long time. They hear the "noise" already, they just aren't willing to admit it. The eBay of today is not what we all built when Pierre started it.

Perhaps with our friends in Australia making this first step, and the French convicting eBay of being liable for selling counterfeit goods in France, the rest of the world will see that it can be done - the greedy monster can be slain. Make no mistake. It will be diffiult, and it will take time.

For this reason, I always advise sellers to either build their own sites (1st choice) or list at alternatives, but either way--take their eBay customers with them. But that's me. ;)
