Unverified Sales

Hi there folks!

I am just a little curious - I just got a sale (YAY!!!!!)... but the customer is from Athens, Greece. He paid with a PayPal account, but it is unverified. Now, normally I don't ship international, but like a dummy, I forgot to put that in my auction descriptions! I have since rectified that situation. Anyway, I don't mind sending it so much, because the item is VERY lightweight, and I DID charge a small fee for shipping, which should cover it.

My question: He is unverified thru PayPal - but the money seems to be in my account. At least, it is on my account sheet at PayPal. Does this mean that the money is actually there.... and I can ship it?

It might sound like a stupid question, but....I'm not sure! I also contacted PayPal to find out.... and their "Contact Us" was broken! Any ideas, anyone?

WOW...Hard call my friend.....I would think if the money is in your pay pal account then I would ship and make sure you get every tracking number you can get with delivery confirmation.

There are no holds placed on the transaction at all??? It shows as a completed transaction in your account?

I have not heard of any scams from Athens but maybe some others have.

Have you had communication from the buyer?

In the end, it is a binding contract, I hate to see people scammed in any way, however if the buyer is legit and you don't follow thru, then it could mean trouble for you.

And on a side note....I have made sales and gotten paid from an unverified pay pal account and all went very well.

Wait about 3 days before you send it out and by then if the money is still in there it is ok! Get a Tracking # so you have proof you sent it and everything should be OK

Hey,
Just checked with my post office to be sure, but you cant get delivery confirmation for overseas packages unless it is to an APO, which is military I think.
It would be an extra 10.00 to send the package registered if you wanted to do that.
Just thot I would share that info with you....

We ship to unverified addresses all the time as in our stores we get alot of customers that pay for there item by c-card that is ran threw Paypal and when they pay that way they don't need to be a Paypal member so there address or name is not verified!
Another thing to remember is that the seller protection at Paypal is only good for the bay and not other sites or our stores

Hi Folks!!!

Thanks for all the advice..... I just got back, so I just wanted you to know I wasn't being rude...

Here's the funny thing.... I have the adress for the person, and I DID ship it out on October 20th..... and got it back yesterday!!! It seems that the address is not a valid one or something.... Thank goodness I put my return address on it. I sent an email to the buyer to advise them of the situation, and a request for a complete address.... but no answer so far. The money seems to have posted in my PayPal account, so I am assuming that it is valid. I just feel kinda bad that the customer has had to wait this long to get the darn thing!

Well you did your part! Does his regestration address on here and on paypal match up?/ Or mayby there is none on Paypal as sometime i don't get one on there when they pay direct! Just keep all your emails and paper work safe on this one.
I'm wainting now too on seeing if the funds stay in paypal before i ship 2 items over $900 worth to the phillipinnes to a unconfirm
